Hive Development Rocketing Too

avatar

We all know the price of HIVE took off on a major run. It is exciting and really, in my opinion, is just a correction of the price compared to the value that is offered here. Of course, the market rarely agrees with the fundamentals and this could be nothing more than a pump.

Price will do what price does.

Value comes from what is created. In the world of technology, this starts with the development. Yesterday, there were a number of items that I came across that shows how Hive development is rocketing also.

PeakD Tipping Service

It started with a change to the Peakd layout. We notice there was an additional icon on the bottom of posts that was not there before.

Clicking on it, we find it is a tipping service. This enables users to send 1 HIVE to the creators of posts they really like. In addition, as we ca see, 1% is sent to @null. Over time, this could help the token distribution by reducing the float some.

This is not a major game changer yet it is something that appears to be a direction of the social media/content creation world. Cryptocurrency is being most implemented into services via tipping. While the upvote/reward system offers more in my opinion, having tipping puts us in the "me too" category. It is just another feature that is offered via one of the applications.

RPC Nodes

Here is something I am not sure we call development yet it is crucial to the ecosystem. RPC nodes are essential for the applications to tap into. Over on Steem, the nodes were basically set up by Steemit Inc. There were a few others that were being run by community members although the bulk of the volume was on Steemit nodes.

This is not the case with Hive. We can see in this post put up by @aggroed, there are now 8 RPC nodes run by community members.

It provides users as well as the developers a number of options when setting up their parameters. All of these can be accessed through Hive Keychain.

EXODE Space Colonization Game

We have the first game that is developed solely on Hive. It is a space colonization game that is about to enter Alpha. The development was accelerated the last few weeks as the game's presale took place.

It was only a little over a week ago that screen shots started to appear on the discord channel. This allows followers to monitor the progress that is being made.

Yesterday, there was a post put up with this video that was made showing how the game is progressing.

From the post, it explains that the video shows:

  • Some of EXODE atmosphere.
  • A lot of the simulation details.
  • Also the kind of quality we build.

What struck me is the graphical quality of the game as shown in the video. From what it looks like, this is high quality stuff. In my mind, this could be something that attracts users once the game is released and the team starts to reach outside the Hive ecosystem.

DAPPLR Update

DAPPLR is an Instragram type application that is being designed to target the mobile market. This team is looking to provide customization features to offer a better user experience. This is another project that is moving towards Alpha and they released some updates in a post.

They also put out a video in addition to a couple screenshots.

Are any of these Earth-shattering? Not really. Nevertheless, this is the key to long-term success. We all saw projects start off with a lot of attention and excitement only to die over time. Project teams that fail to update and add features tend to lose interest of the community. Eventually, these projects died out as there was nothing to motivate the user base.

It is crucial that the community keep growing. Here, I am not referring to the number of users as much as the idea that we need to keep expanding our offerings. The more that is available for people to use, the greater the appeal to newer users.

Major upgrades are always good yet they take a lot of time and can happen only so often. Minor upgrades are very appealing to daily users because they experience is being regularly enhanced. Of course, over time, a lot of minor upgrades results in major changes.

Here are four examples which shows how change is in the air.

We know the developers on Hive are hard at work in their different niches. This is really going to help the ecosystem to grow over the next year.

I seen @dapplr is posting on Twitter as well. Hive is doing an excellent job of reaching out to the wider world to pull people in.

Exode has a big potential, that scene of the evacuation was great huh?. I'm seeing a lot of hype about it. Something to keep an eye on imo, could be a good app to onboard users as you said.

Another Hiver mentioned how tipping can be useful in some situations. Particularly when the post payout period has already ended. After 7 days, voting no longer matters. Now you can easily tip the author to show your appreciation for evergreen content.

Also tipping is the first step, we want to take it further - things like paid subscriptions to automate support to favourite content creators :)

that's what i was thinking, maybe delegation will be a thing of the past, just subscribe. all my delegation has carried over from steem, which i'm powering down

Autoupvotes would be cool but I don't know if peakd have resources to create infrastructure for this. And you can always delegate using peakd wallet :)

Great post and very informative. I tend to stay away from games as they can be addictive due to my competitive nature. However, I will definitely check out DAPPLR.
