Hive's Greatest Asset: The Collectivity Of The Ecosystem

Hive is getting to the stage where it has a lot to offer. This is a subject covered multiple times. However, for a breakthrough, we are still looking for the "Killer DApp". That is something that is eluding Hive and is necessary for us to march forward.

Or is it?

While this might be common thinking, perhaps this is the wrong way to view things. The mindset make sense from a logic perspective. Yet, it is possible that it is derived from the Web 2.0 world.

Could Web 3.0 require a totally different outlook to grasp how things are evolving?

It is likely considering there is so much that is different about it. Web 2.0 is a siloed system run by mega-technology companies that are worth hundreds of billions (Meta and Google). Therefore, we are mired in the competition mindset.

Here is the first transition we need to make.

Hive Is A Cooperative

As much as we still want to bring the competitive juices to Hive, it is vital to remember that all applications (and games) feed into the same system. They all are on-ramps to the Hive ecosystem. It matters none how a user arrived here in terms of what front end caught the attention. The key is they are operating on-chain.

We can use the analogy of a housing cooperative. Everyone lives in the same community. Does it really matter which real estate broker they went through to buy the property? Not at all.

Therefore, we have a collectivity that is of benefit under Web 3.0. Our focus, while often at the application level, has to be, in part, on the totality of the system. In other words, this is much bigger than just one platform.

Ultimately, the success of one can be leveraged to the benefit of others. Again, it matters none how someone arrives, they are free to utilize any applications they desire.

In the end, the entire ecosystem benefits.

Applications Leveraging Hive

Perhaps a better way to look at things, instead of the Killer DApp, is to focus upon the "Killer Protocol". It is not one single solution we should be looking at.

This means that the individual applications do not have to set the world on fire. Part of the competition mindset is that it has to be much better than what is out there. Hence, LeoThreads best top Twitter. Liketu should put Instagram to shame. Peakd has to make Medium look archaic.

Here we see how the traditional thinking might be leading us down the wrong path.

Certainly, the user experience is crucial for all applications and games. This is nothing new. However, all on Hive can tap into something bigger.

And this might well be Hive's biggest asset.

Any application can leverage what is already in place on Hive. As infrastructure grows, we can see more being made available. Transactions are tallied for the entire blockchain. Even when broken up based upon type, they still feed the totals for Hive.

Therefore, applications have to offer a reasonable experience compared to the alternatives in the Web 2.0 world. The "value add" comes from the ecosystem that one is stepping into when utilizing the platform or game.

This is the collective that is offered on here.

Hive's Account Management System

Many of us use Keychain to log in and conduct our activity on Hive. That extension does not care what application is being used. It integrates with Hive-based front ends.

Hive's account management system is something that gets overlooked. In the long run, having a Hive account, regardless of what is in it, will have value. This is because of the ecosystem it allows us to tap into.

We stated on numerous occasions how the social media offerings on Hive is getting close to the point where it rivals Web 2.0. Certainly, the userbase is not there and the features in the apps is still lagging. This is to be expected when comparing something relatively new with the old.

However, from a functionality standpoint, we are getting close where the basics are this. If we step back to view as collective, we see how this can presents even more value.

One log into to access the entire social media realm. Where else do we find that?

Of course, as mentioned in other articles, we are now starting to focus upon the ability to develop the financial side of things. Here is where Hive was lacking, for a variety of reasons. The attention given to the Hive Backed Dollar over the past couple years is providing a solid foundation.

Like the social media activities, this is all done through the same account management system. Also, for those developing application, there is no admin required for users. The blockchain handles it all.

The advantage to Hive is that while Elon Musk is trying to build the everything app, Hive can be viewed as the "Everything Protocol".

This is what anyone who joins the Hive ecosystem, whether developer or user, can access.

It might well be Hive's greatest asset.

You are right, we all need to promote the hive together on social media so that people can come to know.

Actually what I think is we need the apps to promote to get people here and then the community has to let new arrivals know about the different applications.

Unbelievable how you have managed to so simply explain this wild blockchain to so many people for so long.

You have a gift and we can see why you are such a good business mind. Great Hive cheerleader too!

The cooperativity of hive as a system is so beautiful.... The individual competition still ensures that at the end, Hive wins..

I really love the system and I really wish I could onboard more people that are realistic.

Its just sad that most people just come with the aim of collecting and not growing the system...

As you mention the other day, its just way more powerful than a social media now the all in one social media plus the economics of HBD in the back, dapps are rolling out more than before I think, give it five to eight years and then I guess ppl would start to appreciate more the tokenomics of the platform, thx for sharing ✌️

It will be interesting to see how things go but I do think there needs to be some advertising first because the userbase isn't large enough. So I wonder if we will get to that position before Twitter and Elon finish their changes.
