▶️ Watch on 3Speak

We tend to underestimate the impact of technology in the long term.

In this video I discuss Web 3.0. No matter what our thoughts, we are probably underestimating what it will be like in 20 years.

You know, I'd love to find the right balance between true de-centrilazation and a tiny bit of centralization. I say this becuase in some context, we need the leaders to help us understand and guide us.

This makes me think that perhaps we're doing that already with our Witnesses and the voting system. It seems to me with Hive we're perhaps on the way to the right balance I'm trying to point out there ☝

Definitely web 3 is already looking like the future Many of us don't even hope for right now and for ad many who don't have much knowledge of internet, it is going to give them a very tough time to adapt also

Sure. it's all online and people have become anti social. People may not see the big picture here... Technology progress always has two ways. One is making people's life easier, and second is making people's life a lot harder. At this time tech is going both ways at the same time. A lot of tech made people addicted to it. Specially kids. You imagine 12 year old today with motorola startac where you can play no games and there's no youtube? 😂

One is making people's life easier, and second is making people's life a lot harder.

I would say this is not true over the long term. Do you think life was easier in the 1880s as compared to today? Or 1780?

Well I work with kids, specially teens, so I'm not making this stuff up. But it's funny that you don't compare timing of today to let's say 20 or 30 or even 50 years ago. You compare it to the time when markets were extremely introverted. If you look at the US, 19th century was very productive century. Same in Europe, specially France and Germany. Most big cities were build in that time. US has no productivity today -its all about services. You can not compare today to 150 years ago. Around 2k, people were thinking about dreams - that in near future machines will be doing jobs and they will sit and live happily their life... I am not saying this is wrong, but look at the reality around.

Regarding smartphone advancement… after seeing the advancement in folding devices I suspect the next big jump will be a wearable phone that wraps around a wrist , making the smartwatch a fully functional device.

It’s very hard to imagine where it can go from there without speculating on cyborg-like tech that is integrated into our bodies but I think it’s a fairly safe bet that phones will be wearable in the next decade.

Wearables seemed like a logical conclusion yet they are slow to take off. I am wondering if they get skipped for another innovation.

Regarding organic tech, I definitely see this on the horizon, but I feel like such advancement is several decades from being a thing we see regularly integrated into the average persons daily life. Hope I’m wrong and someone is bringing Cerebrum to market as we speak but I haven’t heard of any advancements in X-men tech lately.

By organic I am not referring to humans and computing although there are those who are believers in that.

Here we are referring to genetic material for storage such as what Microsoft is working on.
