Walmart To Accept Crypto Payments?

▶️ Watch on 3Speak

This is news that is starting to gain some traction. Walmart, the largest retailer in the US might be moving towards accepting cryptocurrency. This is on the heels of Visa saying they might accept crypto payments.

In this video I discuss how this stuff comes together and how it actually could be competing.

Keep in mind, Hive does this with HBD.

Thank you for sharing your insights - and in the end, connecting how they relate to Hive! 😊 Indeed, Hive's transactions are very fast and there don't appear to be any clearly evident fees when trading within the network (although when trading Hive and HBD, it may appear that way as the prices of both fluctuate). The only problem is that the big, established names will overtake Hive simply due to reputation. It may take years before Hive's merits are adopted by bigger players, simply because it hasn't been around long enough to earn skeptics' trust. Hopefully Hive can continue to build its reputation; if we get more business owners here who utilize Hive, that should help quite substantially.

It's going to be tough for crypto to undercut credit cards and the ability for the legacy system to leverage debt using KYC and credit scores. Hard to imagine how much better our infrastructure would have to get to compete on this level. I have faith. Soon™

I dont think the infrastructure of the existing system is that robust. It is a bunch of networks piled on top of each other. Crypto infrastructure will quickly surpass it since it is being built from the ground up.

You could be right on the difficulty undercutting credit cards. However, we have to start somewhere and payments is a great place.

Actually I see the number one way to do that is have less of a fee than these banking institutions. With our decentralized exchange we could possibly have this happen.

We do everything better than Banks.

We should go into the wallmart and drop the Hive stickers over there. I guess that would be same as dropping hints about Hive being the chain they should look at. but at the end it's corps we never know what they can do.

I think the payment systems like Visa will start to die out. There are faster solutions with a smaller fee and I think every company should be trying them out. At some point, Visa itself is not that important if there is a good east solution. Right now, it's more as a part of convenience that people stick with that system.

Well I am sure they are going to morph. We will see how they evolve and if they can compete.

After all, there are still newspapers.

I can't wait until we can correctly cash out or buy in with Hive directly linked to our bank accounts. Personally I think that is absolutely accessible and realistic why don't we have an on-chain exchange like tribaldex with pools so that we can not only get the best prices for our community as well as great trading but also buy in and cash out.

We absolutely need to start funding the meetups as well!!!! Those are big ones.

However all this work and effort into recruiting isn't going to help us if we don't work on retaining users.

Real world connection is vital for crypto. How soon we see that remains to be seen. However, a lot of what we are discussing in infrastructure stats to take hold.

Personally with everything we got going on I really think that a real world connection to buy in or cash out as one of the most important things that we could have.

Massive fee erosion required to buy in or cash out needs to be addressed. We could totally do a cash out fee of 1% that would fund all of the infrastructure needed for that.

That would be fair.

But I've seen up to 30% fee erosion on my hive. That's criminal. We could save our users 29%. And what if that was a non-profit we were helping. Would we tax donations at 30% like all of the centralized exchanges do?

We could do an even smaller percentage probably than just 1% if the entire community got behind it and supported it.

A lot of changes are happening a lot of knowledge is coming out. And we are building a massive amount here on the blockchain.

May the best blockchain win!
