▶️ Watch on 3Speak

For the last couple months I have railed out agains the Metaverse and all the talk about it. The reason for this is not because I do not believe in it. I do. What I see is people grossly misrepresenting it and how long it is going to take.

In this video I discuss now Web 3.0 is the next phase of the internet evolution but the Metaverse is decades away. We are in need of a great deal more computation before anything like that is possible.

I forgot SNAP was suppose to be a AR play after so long but I do think the entire process will be decades. What type of companies do you think will be in the metaverse ETF? I think it is probably chip companies and VR/AR.

What type of companies do you think will be in the metaverse ETF?

I havent paid any attention but I would think Facebook, Microsoft, NVIDIA, and others like that.

Either way, it is way too soon and not even close. Again, not saying those companies are bad options if people like what they are doing. However, it is vital to keep in mind that their "Metaverse" entry might not be as advertised.

Yea those sound like things in the Metaverse and I guess you can also add in companies like Slack which deals with communication.

I heard these new terms from you first last 15 November. Since then, I read some of your stuff on Metaverse. This article of yours (https://hive.blog/hive-167922/@taskmaster4450/more-metaverse-madness) provides a basic understanding of what it is. With your current post, at least one thing is clear to me: they are distinct and they should not be confused.

Thanks for that warning about this current hype on metaverse and also for your advise to focus on base and second layers of Web 3.0.

Wall Street and the media are very good about creating hypes. Zuckerberg set off a storm by changing the name. In my opinion, it was a move simply to distract people from the antics the company engages in.

Yet it set off a firestorm in terms of the hype.

I agree, the metaverse is potentially the future but it is a future a long way off and we are merely in the starting blocks of which you rightly state Web 3.0 is the next stage.

you're right, mots of the ones talking metaverse don't even take into account the computational power we need to have the metaverse rolling.
