It Is Time To Expect Web 3.0

▶️ Watch on 3Speak

We know how Web 2.0 operates. The users are the product and have no stake, for the most part, in the financial benefits from the platform. There is also a lot of what is being called Wbe 2.5 which is just Web2 repackaged.

In this video I discuss how we should, as users expect the tenets of Web 3.0 in those things that we spend our time on. If it isnt there, focus attention elsewhere.

with Web3, we have a different way of approaching things.

Especially, search. Which currently encourages content publishers to provide snippets that Google can present in creative ways to attract advertisers. Under the guise of answering search queries.

I'm planning better explanations of this. With suggestions about ways around the problems. But fundamentally, it's about asking members of active, relevant communities. Instead of using Web2 search engines.

Excitingly, Threads provides a Web3 alternative to search engines. As long as we learn to use effective tags. Speaking of which, it's probably useful to have a tag that indicates a 'search query' type of Thread. I'm thinking that #3earch (pronounced threarch) might fit the bill.

Anyway, it would be good to seek results from Human Intelligence in Web3. And move away from search algorithms and AI in centralized Web2 query results.

I agree with moving away from search algorithms and AI, but I don't think you'll ever get people to say threarch. lol

Absolutely right! I've thought about it and I believe #googling is better. In the same way that hoovering applies to all brands of vacuum cleaner. Anyway, my first Web3 googling Threads experiment worked. As I learned that the word for nephews and nieces is niblings (like siblings for brothers and sisters). And I didn't even need a tag.

We have the duty to create Apps and Tokenomics have deep utility and make people sovereign. The merit based curation system that Leo is working on will be a great step in that direction. I'm very thrilled about that.

Summary:
In this video, Task discusses the concept of the ownership mindset, specifically focusing on Web3 and its significance in the cryptocurrency and blockchain space. He highlights the shift needed in mindset from mere desire to active expectation and demand for ownership and control over one's data and activities on social media platforms. Task emphasizes the exploitative nature of Web 2.0 platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube, where users unknowingly contribute to the profits of centralized entities. He delves into the potential of Web3 where users can be both active participants and stakeholders, benefiting financially from their engagement.

Detailed Article:
Taskmaster begins by stressing the need for a change in mindset within the cryptocurrency and blockchain community towards Web3, advocating for a shift from mere desire to active expectation and demand for ownership and control. He critiques Web 2.0 platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube, highlighting how users unknowingly aid in the profitability of these centralized entities without significant benefits in return.

The discussion points out that the current centralized platforms exploit user data for financial gain, with users receiving minimal returns compared to the profits generated. Task argues that despite users' activities being substantial collectively, individual contributions have limited impact on these platforms' financial outcomes. He encourages viewers to question the financial benefits of their online activities and to consider adopting an ownership mindset by being selective in supporting platforms that align with their interests.

The conversation shifts towards the hypocrisy of influencers promoting Web3 concepts while primarily operating on Web2 platforms. Task challenges the authenticity of these influencers by questioning their commitment to Web3 principles while profiting from promoting cryptocurrencies like Ethereum and Bitcoin. He underlines the importance of actively participating in Web3 platforms and projects rather than just theorizing about their potential.

Task explains the significance of active engagement on Web3 platforms in which larger token holders and stakeholders participate. He uses examples like Blocktrade and They Call Me Dan to illustrate how active involvement can lead to increased stakes and benefits within the Web3 ecosystem. He emphasizes the potential of Web3 to empower users by allowing them to monetize their contributions directly, contrasting this with the limited financial rewards offered by traditional social media platforms.

Furthermore, Taskmaster discusses DeFi (Decentralized Finance) within the context of Web3, highlighting the opportunity for users to generate returns on their investments and activities. He stresses the importance of expecting returns on financial endeavors as a key aspect of wealth building in the Web3 space. By setting high expectations for decentralized applications and infrastructures, Task believes that developers and creators will be compelled to meet these demands to stay relevant in a rapidly evolving market.

In conclusion, Task encourages viewers to embrace the Web3 mindset of ownership, control, and active participation, underlining the potential for financial empowerment and self-monetization in decentralized ecosystems. The video serves as a call to action for individuals to reevaluate their online engagements and adopt a more mindful and purposeful approach towards supporting platforms aligned with their long-term financial goals.
