Technology can change business models completely.

With the Tesla Semi, the entire trucking industry is going to change. One way this is the case is with energy.

At present, trucks are filled with diesel at the local filling station. WIth electric, that is not the case.

In this video I discuss how Walmart can benefit from this shift while also becoming one of the largest energy providers in the United States.

I think that is a good thing for Walmart but it could potentially be a game changer if the Semi proves to itself as a good truck alternative. Until it comes out, I don't really know if it lives up to the hype though.

Summary:
In this video, the speaker discusses how Tesla's Semi truck could revolutionize the trucking industry and create new opportunities for companies like Walmart. He explains how Walmart could become an energy provider by allowing electric trucks, like Tesla Semis, to charge at their distribution centers. This could benefit companies like Pepsi, reduce costs, and create a new revenue stream for Walmart. The speaker also delves into the potential for Tesla to sell charging stations and mega packs to Walmart to support their electric trucking infrastructure, showcasing the broader implications of this technology shift.

Detailed Article:
The speaker starts by highlighting the impact of Tesla's Semi truck on industries and companies like Walmart, elucidating how technological advancements can create substantial opportunities. He draws a comparison with Walmart, known as the largest retailer and trucking company in the United States, to emphasize the potential shifts in the trucking industry. The speaker illustrates how Walmart receives products from various companies like Pepsi, Frito-Lay, and Coca-Cola, emphasizing the intricate logistics involved.

Furthermore, he explores the concept of electric trucks and envisions a scenario where companies like Pepsi use Tesla electric trucks to deliver products to Walmart's distribution centers. This leads to a discussion on Walmart potentially becoming an energy provider by offering charging stations at their facilities, catering to the charging needs of electric trucks, and consequently, creating a new revenue stream.

Moreover, the speaker dives into the implications for Tesla, outlining the opportunities for the company to sell charging stations and mega packs to Walmart to support the influx of electric trucks. He discusses the importance of timing in charging electric vehicles, particularly during off-peak utility hours to optimize costs. The speaker also touches on the concept of distributed powering for electric vehicles, reducing dependence on traditional energy sources like diesel and oil companies.

Additionally, the speaker presents a compelling case for the scale of implementation required, noting that for every five Tesla Semis, a mega pack installation may be necessary, with significant implications if Tesla were to produce 50,000 Semis by 2024. This underscores the vast potential for companies like Walmart to capitalize on the shift towards electric vehicles and renewable energy sources.

In conclusion, the video provides a thought-provoking analysis of how Tesla's Semi truck could disrupt the trucking industry, create new opportunities for energy providers like Walmart, and drive the adoption of electric vehicles on a larger scale. The detailed breakdown of potential scenarios and partnerships underscores the transformative potential of technology in reshaping traditional industries.
