Parts are a good thing but I have heard long wait times for repairs because parts aren't available. It looks like their focus isn't really on repairs right now but then volume of cars being outputted.

Summary:
In this video, the speaker discusses Tesla's strategy to generate revenue post-sale, focusing on services and maintenance. He contrasts Tesla with Legacy Auto manufacturers, emphasizing how Tesla's smaller installed base limits their ability to generate revenue from parts sales compared to Legacy Auto. The speaker delves into potential revenue streams for Tesla, such as services revenue, maintenance costs for megapacks, and infotainment packages. He illustrates how as Tesla's fleet grows, their post-sale revenue has the potential to become significant, positioning Tesla to change the game in the industry.

Detailed Article:
The speaker in the video provides an insightful analysis of Tesla's revenue generation strategy post-sale, highlighting the company's focus on services and maintenance to boost profits. He starts by contrasting Tesla with Legacy Auto manufacturers, pointing out how Legacy Auto companies rely heavily on finance and part sales for revenue, areas where Tesla currently falls short due to its smaller installed base. The speaker notes that Legacy Auto manufacturers continue to profit over the years by providing parts and services for their older vehicles, a strategy Tesla cannot currently replicate due to its limited history and smaller fleet size.

He further elaborates on Tesla's growing services revenue, attributing it to a business model akin to Apple, with services beyond traditional parts sales. While he admits to not having a detailed breakdown of Tesla's services revenue components, he mentions infotainment packages and general vehicle services as potential contributors. The speaker then delves into the realm of maintenance costs for Tesla's megapacks, estimating potential revenue generated from servicing these products. He illustrates how as Tesla's megapack sales increase, the accompanying maintenance revenue has the potential to add up significantly over time, bolstering the company's overall income.

Moreover, the speaker explores the revenue prospects from infotainment packages, using hypothetical figures to demonstrate how even modest profits per vehicle can amount to substantial gains when scaled across Tesla's fleet. By extrapolating this approach to encompass various Tesla products like power walls in households, the speaker highlights the potential for these offerings to become lucrative revenue streams for the company. He outlines a scenario where Tesla could amass substantial profits from a combination of services, maintenance, and ancillary products as their fleet and product offerings grow.

In conclusion, the speaker underscores the often-overlooked aspect of post-sale revenue potential for Tesla, emphasizing how the company's innovative approach to generating income beyond vehicle sales could pave the way for significant financial success. By envisioning a future where Tesla's services and maintenance offerings mature alongside their expanding customer base, the speaker paints a compelling picture of how Tesla could establish itself as an industry leader in revenue diversification and sustainability.
