Veews: Contend Distribution Expanding

Over the last week discussed one of the newer applications to the Hive ecosystem, Veews.

This is based upon the old Web 2.0 application Stumbleupon. It focuses upon content discovery, something that Hive was desperately needing. For those who used the application, it is easy to see how content is delivered to you.

Over the past week, there were a few updates that are important to mentioned. The first is the fact the learning engine was updated to include more keywords from the posts. This means the contouring of information based upon your preferences will be quicker. As more thumbs up (or down) are given, the engine is going to start to assemble what is preferred.

The other is something that does not really have to do with content discovery. Instead, I took to calling Veews a content distribution application. The idea is to offer people as many ways as possible to share content easily. After all, if you find something interesting, there is a good chance others will also.

Content Distribution Expanding

There was another update done that follows one that took place at the end of last week. At the time, the ability to share content directly to LeoThreads was added. This was a nice addition since it helps to have applications supporting each other.

Now we see another level added.

Notice the two buttons that are located next to the Share on Threads? We now have integration into Twitter and DBuzz.

Obviously, the first is targeting the Web 2.0 community. Traditional social media still has the masses. It is important for us to show the quality content that is on Hive.

With DBuzz, we have the ability to take a post and send it out similar to Twitter. Of course, this is what LeoThreads does. For those who are unaware, the main difference is that DBuzz has posts show up at the top level, i.e. they show as blog posts. With LeoThreads, it is akin to a comment since there is a contrainer (a master blog post) put together that all threads appear in.

The key is providing tools to easily share content that people like. It is an important step forward, helping content creators on Hive reach a wider audience. For years the only thing we really had was the reblog feature. Now we can tap into a couple of different applications as well as Twitter.

It is likely that we get more social media options in the near future.

Motivation To Put Together Better Content

Veews is bringing content to people who normally do not see it. I know in the time I used the application, there are a ton of authors I saw who were not on my radar. There were some things I actually gave a thumbs down to since the content isn't my cup of tea yet gave a Hive upvote because the post was a good one.

Many come to Hive with the idea of throwing up quick posts that mean little. Now it is starting to come home to roost. As the machine learning engine gets better, you want to have as much information in your posts as you can. Doing this will increase the likelihood that you will be seen by more people.

Things are going to really get interesting when the addition of all the legacy content on Hive is added. We will see an unearthing of a lot of old content that was buried for a long time.

All of this could be leading to Veews becoming a content discovery and distribution hub. It truly enhances the utility of the content posted on Hive, helping to uncover that which was previously buried.

As of now, without Veews, anything that is more than a couple days old is basically gone. Unless one digs though an individual's feed or some tags, whatever was posted a couple days ago is history.

Veews is now bringing this back to life.

What are you using to log in? Mobile browser? If so, the only functional mobile option right now is Hive Keychain's in house mobile browser.

Hive Keychain is a mobile app, you should be able to download it directly from the App Store or Google Play. In the app, once you sign in, there is a browser integrated right into the app.

I haven't visited the platform too much but I did go through what I saw on with an hour or two on it. It works well to introduce new users and I did report my bugs/suggestions. It's definitely improving and they are updating the app quite often.
