Why #ProjectBlank Is Going To Be A Huge Success

For much of the last year, we heard about this incredible application called #ProjectBlank. Throughout 2021, it becomes something akin to the Loch Ness Monster. Here is something that many claim is real yet never was truly seen. We have rumors, maybe even some sightings, but nothing that can be validated.

All kidding aside, ProjectBlank is a serious issue. We are dealing with something that has enormous power when coupled with Hive. The idea of "Twitter on the Blockchain" is something that can really explode.

Why is there reason for so much optimism? Is this a situation which is over the top?

Many will look at it that way. However, when we look at some of the boxes that are being checked, we can see the enormous potential this carries.

Before getting into that, let us take a look at where things stand.

Leofinance Mobile

Much of the delay is due to the setbacks with the Leofinance Mobile application. ProjectBlank is going to be a fork from that application, hence we cannot put the cart before the horse. Unfortunately, development operates at its own speed. We also had the delays attributed to Google and Apple (mostly Apple). This ate up more than a month.

There is another piece to this puzzle. LeoInfra is an architecture that Leofinance developed to enhance the user experience. This is part of what makes the potential of ProjectBlank so high.

We have a number of pieces in motion with the Leofinance Mobile Application. We are having to wait for it all to align before ProjectBlank can be rolled out. What is fortunate is that once the mobile application is to the point of forking, the process should proceed rather quickly. It is just a matter of aligning the forked application with the back end that, we can only presume, is already under development.

Instead of going through the entire year end road map, this was covered in a recent video.

Watch this 4 minute video if you have not done so to get an idea of what the process will look like.

Since it is hard to know what "housekeeping" means, we will just have to wait until we receive further updates on the progress. It appears that even the team is not sure how it will take since Khal seemed a bit uncertain. Either way, it is part of the process so we will have to be patient.

Easy Transition

One of the items most discussed within the realm of cryptocurrency is how difficult it is to use. There is no doubt that wallets made up of numbers and letters is confusing. While Hive does not have that issue since people can name their accounts, the 4 key system is enough to make anyone's head spin.

Here is where I believe ProjectBlank will be a raging success. It incorporates all that is difficult and makes it easy. The LeoInfra development is crucial in this area.

So let us take a look at what the potential is.

380 Million Monthly Users On Twitter

There are around 380 million people who use Twitter on a monthly basis. This means that, since the new application will mirror Twitter to a great degree, the learning curve is near zero.

Unlike most other blockchain based applications where there is a large learning curve, with this, if you know Twitter you can use ProjectBlank. Hence, people will be able to start using it as soon as they log on.

Billions Logging In With Traditional Social Media

How many people know how to log in using a Twitter, Facebook, or Google account? A rough guess is over 3.5 billion people can do this. When we look at the number of users of those three applications combined, it is well over 3 billion.

Why is this important?

With LeoInfra, once it is built out to the point where ProjectBlank is released, the option of signing in using these accounts will be available. This eliminates the need to figure out how to get a Hive account, what it does, and how does one use all those keys. None of this matters, at least to start.

LeoInfra is designed to lower the barrier to entry, enabling millions to engage as soon as they log on. I do not believe this concept can be overlooked. Without the added confusion of keys and blockchain, people will start operating like it is another Web 2.0 application.

Of course, it is not. This is Web 3.0 and people will be eligible for rewards. To partake in that, it will require claiming one's account and learning about the key system. Nevertheless, as we can see, this is way to get them involved in stages.

General Purpose Application

Even though it is being put together by the Leofinance team, this is a general purpose application. This means that any content is acceptable. It is not specialized like Leoinance, focusing upon cryptocurrency, business, and finance.

Naturally, this makes the application appeal to more people. It will also send the usage through the roof.

The reality is that few people are bloggers in the traditional sense. Most of the stuff posted online is pure, for lack of a better word, garbage. It is people sharing whatever is on their mind, whether it involved what the President did or the wart on one's thumb. The back and forth interaction can take place over the silliest topics.

Nevertheless, that is what interests people and the Internet is not a mecca for high quality content.

ProjectBlack will cater to this audience. It will also send the transactions on the Hive blockchain skyrocketing. We can only wonder how many Tweets (along with the associated comments) are made each day. If this application can pull in 1 million users, the number of Blanks and associated responses will be in the millions.

Finally, there will be the potential to link one's Twitter account through ProjectBlank. This means that Blank can act as a front end to Twitter while also providing backup of people's data since it is stored on Hive.

The marketability of this application is enormous. This is why #ProjectBlank is going to be a huge success.

Wen? Seriously though this project has massive potential if they get a number of things right. Mass adoption to the platform should be rather easy but keeping people active via rewards that have value will need to come and keeping flat up spam bots out will be another. I understand you can vote for what you want and not the spam but honestly that's not enough and it will require some outside action or it will take over the platform and become unpleasant for every day users. Overall though big hopes for this and stacking up LEO for what might possibly be an airdrop for it :D

The other huge plus is the sheer amount of new people it will bring and from that the amount of new people that will be introduced to PolyCUB, CUBDeFi and LEO token for hives blockchain blogging platform. I see nothing but value and higher prices in the future for all of these once project blank gets released.

I presume the ability to block accounts will exist. Since we do not know the basic architecture other than it will use non-top layer posting, it is hard to say. My guess is we see some type of "tribe" ability that can block accounts. It will still end up on Hive but will be blocked and rewards removed (Blank).

The ability for massive adoption is there in my opinion. We will see how quickly this can roll out.

What should excite you @bitcoinflood is the potential to guerilla market this. The talk track is already written. Simple. Easy to understand. Direct.

So we won't have a deadline for Project Blank for another 2 weeks as they iron out all the issues. I wonder if we should be calling this as Blank though since I recall it being just a filler name. I think a general purpose application is good but have they decided how to deal with the RC related issues? Most new users will probably not understand this.

I think the next hard fork is going to have RC delegation. That will solve it, at least for the first million users. After that, it could be a problem.

That is a really good point. As a new user, I had a bit of a hard time learning the Voting Mana / Resource Credits system.

This really is the moonshot right here. If this works like it's supposed to, then it will just be a matter of getting the word out and getting it in front of people that are in front of people. It shouldn't take long in this ADD world for this to spread.

"You already tweet. Why not get paid to do it?"

No-brainer.

Fingers crossed....

Actually there is another angle that is more powerful.

"You already tweet, why not control your data?"

This is something that Twitter does not offer. With Blank, we can see this as a frontend for all Twitter related activity.

Plus there was talk that they might be able to import all of one's twitter history to the blockchain. Imagine that.

I agree that that is the real benefit to everyone. I'm just not sure that most people care about that aspect right now. They will at some point. But right now I think the "getting paid" aspect will be more powerful for sucking in the masses. Most of them are young and don't really care about their data at this point. They've grown up in a world where it's the norm. But getting paid to tweet? That's something they can get on board with since a lot of them are looking for different ways to make money.

Like I said, I agree that controlling your own data is the more powerful trait between the two. I just don't think it's quite as marketable yet. At least to the masses. Influencers would probably be the other way around...

I keep listening to my favorite podcasts and All-in Podcast keeps on mentioning Web3 ! They are coming with their own plans I can smell it. We have to grow bigger first ! Education is key

Yeah Web 3.0 is on its way. A bit of an overuse so far but we are getting closer to some applications that fit under that umbrella.

One thing that I am also really excited about which was mentioned recently is that there won't be any rewards on posts shown on the interface. You will just be able to go to your wallet and see that your funds have increased, but you won't see the rewards on each post or comment. This sounds huge to me. There is a large perversion of incentive when rewards are involved - people participate for the rewards, not for the connection, and oftentimes there is no connection at all (nobody reads the posts, nobody engages with comments, activity is happening just robotically for the rewards). Whereas on other social media platforms they participate purely for the connection. If hiding the post rewards can put people's attention back on the connection, and the financial rewards are the cherry on top rather than the main focus, I wonder what that would do for participation and engagement.

I had not heard that but it is an interesting approach. We will see how the application looks when it roles out.

Ultimately, utilizing this application for the rewards should be secondary. This is the first one that we might see where one can actually own the account and data that is common to a Web 2.0 application.

Can’t wait for the project blank to be a huge success . It will be great to see it dominate lots of other social media platforms, Web 3.0 to be precise. This is something that will make us proud and make the internet a better place for us all.

(Edited)

I heard something from Khal in the last AMA (I believe it was the last one), that makes me more optimistic about the success of Project Blank. Instead of regular comments on Hive, Project Blank will likely use custom jsons, which are MUCH LIGHTER on resources needed. That also means Project Blank threads will be kept away from the feeds of the general-purpose interfaces. These interfaces will only read them if they want to and start parsing and interpreting those custom jsons.

Some of what I said above is my extrapolation from the few words Khal said regarding PB using custom jsons. That's how I'd see them make sense the most for both Hive and PB.

I like that idea of linking the Project Blank account with my Twitter accont. That would give me more of a reason to be on Twitter. Haven't done much on the centralized Social Media recently.

I can understand that the key system requires a bit of learning something new, but it is not that hard. I am hoping it won't be a barrier to entry.
I have my hopes high for project blank.
Do you think they will use the Leo Token for governance or will they develop a separate one for project blank?
