Hi needle artists, let's meet again on another #needleworkmonday.

Can you recall me? This is @tasri from Bangladesh. You may know that I am a learner. And I got this platform as a great learning media. I had no idea about needleworks. But due to coronavirus pandemic, I had to stay home for a long time untill now. So I decided to do some creative works for passing some quality time.

I found this community and be inspired to do some local traditional needleworks. I have had some experienced guide around me as my mother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and many other persons. They have huge experiences about embroidery work. And this perform also helped me to do some creative works. That's why I started with a lot of confidence and desire to learn more.

Today I am going to share another embroidered quilt design that I have recently done.

My new needlework

If you visit my previous needleworks from the links provided above, you will be informed that I used to do needle work on quilt specially for my newborn baby. It had two purposes as..

• A newborn baby requires lot of quilt. I fullfilled that demand as well as my practice was going on.
• The second important thing was the size of the quilt. As a needle worker I am new, so it is quite easy for me to do embroidery on a small quilt.

It was a quilt prepared for my personal use. I prepared it and then embroidered on the body of the quilt. It was a purple colour cloth that I folded with double layer and then stitched to make a bit heavier.

After making the basic quilt I was a little bit confused about which colour would match with that purple colour quilt.

As it was my first standard size quilt, I tried to put my best efforts to complete it perfectly. Now you will judge my needleworks.

• Thread (silk and cotton)
• Cloth ( cotton)
• Wooden Circular Frame

Process sequences in a brief

---

01. DRAWING

On the purple colour cotton ground, I drew first the design with removable inks to get the borders of my needleworks as follows..

02. THREAD SELECTION

Then I selected suitable colour threads for different portion of the quilt:

03. EMBROIDERY

The sewing was done according to the design drawn on the ground of the empty cloth. I host normal long stitches with a little bit gap to full feel the inner side of the design.

Full of the quilt design was completed by the same type of simple stitching. It took about two weeks to complete the whole design by me.

04. FINAL TOUCHES

After completing the stitches line, the floating threads are cut off by the scissor to give a smooth and fault-free freshlook.

05. COMPLETED

The needle work has been completed. Now it is the time to wash and iron the quilt for making it ready to use. And now this is the final embroidered quilt and my first one of the standard size that I have completed last two weeks.

Who am I

I am from Bangladesh. Still now I am a student. Besides studying, I like to do some creative works like needlework, blogging and as well as writing on blockchain Hive.

I like to do embroidery on Nakshi kantha (quilt) at my leisure period.
