A follow up to Wednesdays Post, some sightings while walking the trails

A follow up to Wednesdays Post, some sightings while walking the trails

As I mentioned in yesterdays post, after the walk on the beach catching shots of the sunrise I took a walk on the trails, I had heard lots of bird sounds coming from the woods around Allens Pond, so I decided to take my birding lens the 200-600 with me on the walk, to be honest for a good art of the walk I wish I had brought other lens on the walk as the trails were beautiful and although I was hearing a lot of birds I was not seeing any, but I did get a few shots to share

I did a google search with this image and apparently its some form of Old world Flycatcher, so Was a little happier I had got at least one photo of a bird and continued on my walk

Next off I saw an Osprey nest and yes perhaps I am a bit obsessed with getting shots of Ospreys at the moment as you will find out on Sundays post

on the pond I saw this duck and ducklings

and then I saw a couple of bird houses, and this little one sitting om top of one of them

Next up I saw a Red winged blackbird, and was happier I had brought the big lens with me

and then further along the trail I saw another Osprey nest

and then I saw another bird house and snapped a shot of it, at the time I could see something in the hole of the birdhouse but was not sure what it was, only when I got home and looked through the photos did I see it was this little bird watching me watching it

Hehehe, that last photo just made me laugh. The bird looked so overwhelmed at what was happening with you and the big lens I guess, lol.

All these images are so beautiful, that photo of the duck and her little ducklings looks really incredible, nice shots @tattoodjay, it's obvious you had a great Wednesday walk.

Nice bird captures. I put out some birdhouses but only have one tenant so far - a house wren. Not a beautiful bird but he sings and sings and sings. I think that last shot is a swallow. I would love swallows but I don't think I have the right habitat. And no worries, I never tire of osprey shots 🙂

Thanks, I put out bird feeders here, but the squirrels tore them to bits :(

Awesome, you sure found some cool birds on your journey. That lens make me a tad jealous haha, I have a 200-500mm though so not to far off.

thanks, I have many bird shots to edit for posts, but trying to not share to many bird posts each week, I am very happy with the lens, getting used to carrying the heavy beast now LOL

and yes not to much difference between 500 and 600

So great that you still caught a few birds with your lens.
The first one I like the most. Great capture.
It’s always hard to choose which lens to take along… as you don’t want to be covered with gear wandering around hehehe 🤭

The last birdy does look a lot like a swallow, just looking out of the nest. Not sure what it is doing in there though. As they normally seek other places to nest.

Yep, the ospreys… I can imagine. They do make some very great subjects to catch on camera.
Have a wonderful day further @tattoodjay

that last bird could be a swallow or even a flycatcher, I saw someone else do a post with photos of flycatchers, and then saw what I think was the same birds all around these birdhouses the other day

yeah the 200-600 is to much of a beast to carry all the time, but these days if I go for a sunrise walk, I often have it in the car, and after sunrise if birds are around drag it out

you to have a wonderful day

Could be too a flycatcher. Hard to tell as we don’t see much 😉 but when you saw more of those small ones around, probably is the same bird.

That’s a great idea, go first for the sunrise and catch birds afterwards. 😎
Thank you kindly!

That’s great… something I want to do too one day. My parents in law are really good at it, recognising birds. They go on birding trips. Maybe I join one day to learn. Or when they visit again 🤓

Yes… I can imagine. Now you are capturing so many birds lately, it is cool to find out more about them too and know what kind they are. Bit by bit… we learn. As some say. We are never too old to learn 🤓😉
Have a wonderful Friday @tattoodjay

I have been trying to get over to see this all morning! This was so much better than I hoped! I am only going on the fact that you aren't a regular birder! You really blew that all away with this post.

I love your breakout shot here and I think the ospreys will always be my favorite, and the shot of him with the huge fish, well, there is no topping that. Well, we know there will be, but, for now, I still LOVE that shot.

I am glad you identified that little flycatcher, I wouldn't have been able to identify it. I find the longer lenses too hard for me to carry for a long period of time. I can do it, but, it gets awkward for me. I like your idea of leaving them in the car and going back after sunrise. I might have to try that.

A wonderful morning this was!! Great captures and I look forward to more!

Thanks so much after years saying I have no luck with getting photos of birds that’s changed this year and have got so many shots I am happy with plenty for more posts

Still watching for Osprey my fascination with getting shots of them still remains

Ohh yeah carrying that lens fir too long is draining fir sure

I was thinking it was because I am a little bit smaller than average, but,I think it is just that heavy. Also, mine is a 400 and yours is much larger.

Yikes.

Following up from yesterday and am glad to see the pictures of the bird houses, kudos to people who build them and help the birds to nest and reproduce. Locally, am feeding the birds in my area with left over seed and bread. I just love seeing their freedom to fly and thrive. Thanks for sharing and do enjoy Friday ahead :}

I must admit seeing the birds flying around and popping in and out of the birdhouse made me consider getting one for our backyard

You totally should try to get some bird feeders and the seeds are not pricey either, for me a small bag goes a long way. I love to see the birds come by and feed. Next, I will try some sugary water for the shiny little humming birds. Do enjoy your weekend :}

I think that soon you will leave your wide angle lenses at home and become a real wildlife photographer, my friend 😊 You're getting better and better each time and I'm enjoying your bird photos as much as the sunrise images 😃

In this post I love the duck and the ducklings on this little island most - lovely 😍

First photo of fly-catcher I think right identification, last one peeking out at you has the face of a tree swallow what a cute capture.

Larger Osprey always exciting when one is given opportunity to share their space.
