A monochrome Monday post

A monochrome Monday post

I do love color photos for the most part, but some shorts to me just call for being in Mono and that's what I will focus on for this post, Perhaps because its a damp grey morning here
#monochromemonday initiated by @old-guy-photos.

Now I do love cobblestone streets and when I am walking around downtown cannot resist getting shots of them so lets start with a couple of shots of them.

Now for those who have to drive over them they make your car shudder and rattle, but I still love them, so here is another cobblestone street here in downtown New Bedford with more moody skies in this one

AI started with a couple of man made scenes lets try a bit of nature in Mono.

Now this next one is not one I would normally try in Mono, looking up in trees, but with the trees being bare at the time I took this I decided to see what I thought of it in Mono and I like the almost eerie mood feel of this next one

To be honest I have a love hate relationship with this next image, one day I will look at it and love it, the next day I look at it and think Hmmm not sure about this.

What do you think of it, be honest you will not hurt my feelings

And finishing off with another nature shot will a touch of manmade with the old fence in shot, not sure why but iIlove old rustic fences, or in this case a barrier like this

So out of curiosity do you have a preference for color or mono Images?
As I said earlier i mostly prefer color, but Mono Images for certain subjects especially those with a lot of detail can stand out.

And that’s all folks

unless stated otherwise all photos used in my posts are taken and owned by myself, if you wish to use any of my images please contact me.

Haha, I love the first three definitely - the trees one is beautiful (but I always loved looking up shots anyway) Not too sure about the one you weren't sure about either... maybe if in plain b&w ?

Ooohhh, don't throw it away yet... lol - "not sure" meaning I hadn't decide... yet! :D You must have seen something in that when you shot it, as well as when you chose to post it. (I trust your photographic judgement!) Maybe a slight edit? I tend to like things in higher contrast, and darker ;) So maybe a darker edit, a stronger contrast...might bring up the 'attention-grabbing' factor, for me anyway! :) Cheers, and you have a great day too!

That first picture looks like it could have been taken like a hundred years ago! The cars are far away, so you can't really tell unless you look closely :)

Monday and mono suits well together, and I'm feeling somehow mono too today, whatever that means 😎

The street shots are looking great and I still haven't tried such cool looking up tree shots yet. I don't like fences because I have damaged quite some trousers by climbing over barb wire fences 😁

Looking at the fourth image I say also hmmm. I think I know that plant or is it a flower? And to be honest, if it is that plant which I mean, then I don't like it, although I don't know why. Maybe because there were too many of such things in our garden when I was a child ... but that doesn't mean I don't like the photo, because I do ... somehow 😉

Please don't call the doctor for me - I said I'm feeling mono today. Maybe I shouldn't do nightshifts anymore 🤣

Maybe its a a global thing feeling Mono on Monday I just read a couple of posts on a similar vein

Barbed Wire and electric fences I am not so keen on been caught by both a few times, but wooden fences I dont mind so much LOL

On that plant one looking again after I did the post, I thought personally I should have found another photo to edit and add, so interesting to hear your thoughts on it

Dont worry I wont call the Doctor Nightshifts can do that

Cheers and !BEER

Forget my toughts about this plant - I am in the office since yesterday morning and usually after a nightshift my thoughts are a little bit weird. Also, right before I have had the co-worker here I was talking about the other day and it was quite a frustrating experience (again) to teach her a few things she should do alone in the future 🤣 So I had to let my weird thoughts free and your post was a welcome victim 😁

I am really moody when it comes to Mono. Like you, I like most of my images in color, however there are places where mono makes it stand out. I really love cobblestones and New England has more than its share oh, maybe that's why I like them because they remind me of home. Or maybe just because they're cool! The shot that you want to know whether I like it or not? I'd like it little better if the background were either a little bit lighter or a little bit darker making them stand out a little better, as it is the details are subtle. In of itself, I like it but I could like it more that way. Now if you cry about this...

Live those trees! I love fences too!Happy Labor Day/Monochrome Monday!

Thanks for your feedback and that makes a lot of sense fir that shot I am not so sure I if I think that would work

It won't~ I looked on the computer screen and it looks so different and I would say I like it just like that. The phone just is not the same!

Lol that’s not what I meant to say at all lol
I meant to say I think that would work and or blurring the background a little

Sometimes I swear my phone has a mind if it’s own lol

Yes, but if you look at it a big screen as opposed to the phone it looks like a different picture. The detail is way different. The autocorrect on my phone has been exceedingly unfriendly in the last couple weeks and changes my words into something else. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I don’t know if they have tweaked autocorrect but it seems to be hyper these days

And that’s my excuse and I am sticking to it

Inspired and willing! I will do one similar post (not similar though since I am not that capable lol) I love to go through my black and white photos that I used to take before I got my first digital back in 2001. I am finding a way to convert them in presentable digital form.

I barely consider using the mono, but whenever I see them appreciate the front if creates. The think the picture of the two mushrooms belongs in a psychiatrist office or something.

I don't really know the technicals on photography. It's a nice picture, but I wouldn't stop and look at it for more then a few seconds.

Mono is often good for subjects with a lot of detail where color can distract from them

That one you mention I should have replaced with another image as I agree with you

Some awesome pics! I think for me it's a tie between the second picture and the one looking up at the trees; those two are my favorite.

Some subjects especially those with lots of detail really stand out in mono

More often than not most relate better to colour, on occasion mono/b&w works well with definite depth you wish to obtain, sepia tone another for specific use.

Suppose it all depends on ones mood, what your eye depicts at time, always fun to play, not so?

ok - so here is what I think about that shot you asked about...

I love it.

To me it looks like it's frosted. The little details look almost like they are crystals of snow and ice forming all around the image.

so i'm not sure...
would I like it so much if I didn't let my imagination take me?
If i just thought it was a plant - would I think it's that beautiful?
hmmmmm

I dont' know - but that doesn't matter - hahahaah cuz my imagination DID take me there and I love it for that reason! that it took me away someplace new :)

photos should do that :)

Yeah! I have just recently shared some of my thoughts on a black and white photo that @jacoalberts shared - and I really wanted to get inside his mind on why he took that shot.

and it was SO wonderful to get his thoughts! It opened the photo up to me SO MUCH MORE.

that's what art does best right??? It allows us to impart some experience from one mind to another, through some medium. photo, art, music, poetry.... something!
anything!

and then we go on our separate ways, touched.

love it :)

Yes exactly in so many forms of art when it has an impact that makes one think curious to know what the artist is thinking then it is powerful

Nicely taken mono shorts. We use to have this nature of pictures before colour picture swept the photography scene away.
I love every bit of the photo shared.
Lovely posts found through @dreemport

Monochromes always give me these 'old school' feelings each time I see one. Perhaps it's just me but I really love the feeling.
