A walk on the trail to the Winsegansett Marshes

A walk on the trail to the Winsegansett Marshes

This was initially going to be a Wednesday walk post, but then I thought last week I shared a trail, so will go with something different so haring it today instead

this trail is one of many supported by the Buzzards bay Coalition, which is a membership-supported nonprofit organization dedicated to the restoration, protection, and sustainable use and enjoyment of our irreplaceable Bay and its watershed

When I moved here I knew we had some beaches nearby but had no idea that between the Buzzards bay Coalition and the Dartmouth Natural Resources trust (DNRT) that there are so many trails to explore here and I have been enjoying checking out a few of them recently.

This place is called the Winsegansett Marshes, there is a small side of the road parking near the entrance, which is very easy to miss, I drove by it a couple of times before finding it

This is the start of the trail just by the side of the road

ITs a beautiful trail, I could hear so many birds chirping, but they were all deep in the woods I guess as I didn't see any

The trails are nice and wide and clear as easy walk

This is near one end point of the trail where it opens up, but to what it opens up to that will be another post for a Wednesday Walk Which I shared yesterday, so here is the trail to get to that little beach

I found it so relaxing walking along these paths, Just at this spot, I heard a sound behind me, and turned quickly, a deer was crossing this path and ran into the forest, I wasn't quick enough to get a photo of it but was cool to see

The trail indeed looks beautiful and relaxing just by viewing these amazing photos you took.

It must have been kind of scary when the deer ran over the paths but I'm glad the sight was beautiful to you.

All the images are so beautiful and the trees and grasses are looking really fresh indeed.

It's good to have walked the paths with you through these images.

I can feel how to walk through the forest like this, because I can tell you very often travel like this in the thick forest in search of insects.Sometimes there are joys and there are also difficulties.

Hello dear friend @tattoodjay good morning
What a beautiful experience to walk through these forests, without a doubt they are very relaxing to be in contact with this environment
Too bad you couldn't get some shots of the deer that passed behind you

Wow, a deer on your walk too! That is pretty awesome! They sure are quick when they want to be! We used to get them all the time where I grew up. People from the city would come pull over on the side of the road to watch them.

It was cool to see it, a pity I was to slow to get a shot of it, but when mY allergies settle down I will go back and be watching out for them :)

Beautiful shots dear @tattoodjay !

How nice that you have protected areas in which ecosystem conservation is prioritized.

Beautiful are the photos of the trail that are covered by trees. Very relaxing to walk there breathing the fresh air provided by the trees and so much vegetation and the birds singing.

Have a great day!

Big hug!

What a joy to have these kind of trails so close by. The green of nature and all its wildlife… beautiful. I can imagine walking there @tattoodjay 😎 also the trees provide shade, so thing you won’t find here much. Aaawww you saw a deer jump over the path 🥰 stunning.
Thanks for sharing these beautiful photographs with us.
It’s great to see so many trusts are working to protect these nature areas close to people. There should be more…
Have a wonderful day today 👋🏻☀️

I do love walking these trails, but the tree pollen levels have bene high recently which played havoc with me getting allergies hence not feeling the best fora few days feeling better now but skipping the trails for a few more days at least

That’s a shame, hubby does have a pollen allergy to trees too… but mainly olive trees. So I understand what you mean.
Yes, keep it easy and hope it will help visiting less the trails now the pollen count is high. Bit by bit…
Have a great day further 👋🏻😁

That’s such a great excuse… rain hehehe 😉
But yes, I understand. It does make you not feel as guilty for not going out and exercise and take pretty photographs.
Wished it rained a little here. To dry, low humidity, forest fires and to hot already. The summer started way to early. We will probably see no rain until October.

Thanks… the fire is under control at the moment, but it has burned 4866 hectare. Just behind where I live, so it was a bit… to close for comfort for a few days. It started the 8th of June.
It is the area of 3 walks I shared. With the dragonfly path and the one where you would walk over the water paths in Benahavís. The other one was with that steep bit at the end to the castle ruins. Won’t be going there for a while now… sad to see. No news on how it started yet.
It’s looking good now and will be extinguished soon 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Thanks a lot and you too, have a wonderful day and great weekend 👋🏻😁

I have seen on the news about the fires I didn't know it was so close to you, lets hope they get it contained soon it must be so worrying when it is so close
Indeed so sad to see, but nature is amazing and recovers fairly quickly after fires,

It was just 6km behind me, looking on the roof terrace I could see it all. They did everything with hundreds of firefighters and even the army to keep it away from the coast line/ where the houses are. 6 villages were evacuated, but they are back home now.
They managed it well 🤓 the amount of planes and helicopters that were in the air. Scary…
Right now the smoke is gone luckily 🤞🏻 I see bright blue skies again. Hope it will be extinguished fully soon.

Thanks, yes nature is strong and can recover quickly. 😎

glad the had the resources to be able to fight and contain it, lets hope it all done and dusted soon

Back in MY army days I got called in to fight fires a couple of times, cutting fire breaks etc, very hard work

cheers

Thanks so much @tattoodjay

Really… yes, it is. Especially in the conditions that are here now. They do such a good job. I saw some videos. So I can imagine why you say it is hard work.

Cheers!
