Baltimore Oriole

I forgot about this community, but got a reminder recently and thought I should try and be a bit active on here.

Hive Silver bloggers is a community for retired and soon-to-be retired bloggers as well as seasoned Crypto Hodlers.

One thing when I worked was I was always on the go, and sitting still and taking it easy was something I was never good at, which made getting photos of birds a challenge as I have read it requires patience and sitting and waiting.

Since I am now retired one of the things I want to do is get more shots of Birds, so on Friday morning I went to a spot where I thought there was a chance to catch sight of some birds, took a fold up chair and found a nice spot and sat and waited.

I surprised myself and sat patiently for half an hour, and was lucky enough for some birds to appear, and those are the shots I will share in this post, not the greatest of shots but a start of my birding :)

and since its of Feathered Friends I thought I would add this to #Featherfriday all be it a day late

I am no expert on birds but after a bit of googling I think these may be Baltimore Orioles, feel free to correct me if I am wrong

I will admit 30 Minutes felt like a couple of hours LOL, but it was worth the wait to see these little ones arrive in a tree within range of my 200-600MM lens, unfortunately after I got these shots a Noisy truck came along a nearby road and backfired and the birds all took off, so I packed the chair away and went for a stroll before heading to pick up my wife

I was not totally patient, while sitting waiting for birds to appear but I did stay sitting just took some snaps in the trees LOL

As I was preparing this post, I shared one of the shots on FB and asked to confirm they were Baltimore Orioles which one person did, so I am taking it that that is what these are called

Now most of these shots are of Male Baltimore Orioles, but I think this is a Male and female in the next shot the male on the left and the female on the right

And another shot as I semi patiently waited for the birds to arrive a next in one of the trees

And that’s all folks

Well, being patient for at least half an hour has definitely paid off, my friend, this bird is a beautiful little guy 😃
I remember the times when we were talking about patience - 10 minutes of sitting still and waiting was a very good time back then, and still is for me, not only in photography 😁

Great seeing you here @tattoodjay, awesome shots there! Well, retirement also has still not taught me to be patient, in fact it's as if I'm more impatient now than ever as there's just so many things I try to fit into my day!
I do start off slowly though with a coffee in bed while all the office workers are battling in the traffic, I really treasure those moments!

Hahaha, 30 minutes is a tea break JJ, but @johannpiber is worse, as mountain goats are not known for their patience, especially the Austrian ones 🤣

You will get into the habit mate and I am glad that you got these beauties as a reward for your patience.

Thank you for posting in #silverbloggers

Ja, ja, that's a new Guinness World record for patience methinks 🤣
One of these days we will start to call you the Sleeping Beauty (Goat)😆

Marian says that I am a statue at times and I am glad that the birds don't poop on me.

Haha, as long as the birds don't build nests in your ears ... 🤣

Goat is okay - Beauty would be too much, I believe, although I haven't seen myself sleeping yet 😎

Nope, the birds can't do because I wear a hat with ear flaps that folds over my ears 🤣

Okay, so you would prefer Sleeping Horror perhaps?
Methinks that sleeping goat sounds much better 🤣

Cheers and thanks.

Oh yes, no bird or bug will nest in my ears 🤣
