Birds of a feather flock together

Birds of a feather flock together

This post is for #SublimeSunday is inspired by @c0ff33a and #BeautifulSunday is initiated by @ace108.

As for the title it came in my head as I was editing this photo
Birds of a feather flock together is an English proverb.
The meaning is that beings ie people of similar type, interest, personality, character, or other distinctive attribute tend to mutually associate.

The phrase ‘birds of a feather flock together’ is at least over 470 years old. It was in use as far back as the mid-16th century. William Turner is said to have used a version of this expression in the Rescuing of Romish Fox, from the year 1545:
“Byrdes of on kynde and color flok and flye allwayes together.”

I guess it is tied to we often see groups of birds flying together, and when used as a saying it implies how most people have a tendency to hang around and mix with people who have similar thoughts, I think with social media today it is perhaps even more true, I see many who base their opinions on so many things on what they see online and take it to prove their point of view, when perhaps all it proves is they only follow people who have similar thoughts to theirs.

Perhaps its all part of me always being a rebel but I make a point of following people from all ends of the spectrum on various subjects myself and also do my own research on sources from all ends of the spectrum as well and form my own opinions.

OK as I sometimes do I have again waffled on to start this post so lets get to the photos

This first photo which is a fairly recent one is what inspired me to share a post with photos of birds this week

A close up of a swan by the pond in Buttonwood Park

I think that's why I'm mostly alone and not in a flock - nobody has the same feathers as me 😂

We all should do our own research from different sources and then make up our own opinion and not just blind believe what someone we follow has said.

Hope you're having a great Sunday JJ 🌞

Unity and agreement are overestimated when it is only a matter of creating a unanimous sphere. It becomes desolate and boring. "Challenge" is indeed a pop star among words, only it is the word that is loved, not the thing itself.

Feeling challenged is a really great thing when it takes place in a sporting spirit and you know the rules.

During my long blogging career, one of the nicest things was when my challenger and I were able to keep a touch of wit alongside the hot-blooded engagement, that is, the fight was not grim, but one conceded a point to the other, no ego problems, admitting when another argues better or has the wittier ideas. Such things are truly exciting to experience, as not all in the local and own environment are excellent challengers and I say that I am on the lookout for people who are more intelligent than me.

Greetings, even though you may have similar feathers :)

P.S.

How nice, I thank you for the historical reference.

So well said and I totally agree, debating with people with closed minds and shall I say limited intelligence is not challenge at all
as I have been known to say for some people
having a battle of wits with them is unfair as they are unarmed

but debating with someone of equal or better intellect and even better with a broad knowledge base is worthy of putting ones time and effort into

Hum...hom... so I would disagree with that right away. LOL ;)

if it's me who's a plank in a dialogue, as we say here, and I'm the more intellectually immature of the two, it's probably an immense challenge for the other person to debate with me airhead. Online, that's less the case, I rarely put up a front, but take my time.... or at least the few seconds or minutes between the passing of comments are already a time advantage. Offline is more like it. I can be caught spontaneously and without cover. HaHa! Which is perhaps better anyway, who knows?

In fact, it's probably the biggest challenge of all to talk to someone you think or believe has a limited horizon. Helping them to get the "best out of themselves" would then be a kind of master test for the debater. Without thinking that one is helping the other, but it would have to be a rather selfish act to help someone else. If you know what I mean?
;)

I wrote the earlier reply on my phone in the dark and perhaps did not express myself well

Sometimes I have the habit of responding quickly and thinking after, not a good habit I know

I do agree debating someone with different thoughts is fine and often a challenge, I do not have an issue with that at all, I find it fun, I learnt that from an uncle of mine in my late teens

He lived on a farm and on a Saturday he loved going to two nearby towns to a Pub/Restaurant in each town, one was one very popular with supporters of one of our Political parties, and the other popular with the other party, he would go to the first one which say supports Party A and love debating for Party B and then do the reverse in the other

No angst or heated discussions but open sharing of views and thoughts and he was such a good debater :)

So yes I do get what you mean discussing with someone perhaps bringing to them perspectives they may not have considered, and yes perhaps also having perspectives brought to your attention one may not have considered is a worthwhile adventure

these days sadly in many cases people are so strong on their ideas and can get aggressive if counter thoughts are raised, one has to be careful who one may have an open discussion with

What a great example and then also taken from life. I would have loved to meet your uncle :) thanks for this little insight into his habits.
To debate online, you probably always have to consider something like this as a positive sporting challenge to stay mentally stable. Those who engage in online arguments but feel neither the puff nor the humorous determination to conduct a debate according to unspoken rules (which we all know) can become victims of their own grimness and mistakenly blame the other person.

It is not impossible to counter very aggressive commentators in a way that changes the subject and shows a personal interest in them. Often aggressiveness is an expression of helplessness, but sometimes it is also a deliberate means used by, for example, matured personalities to test their opponent (just two out of many possibilities). Since you never really know, the tension is also the fun of having one. If not, it would probably be better to stay out of debating.

Have you ever succeeded in leading someone you perceive as an aggressor into a genuine conversation? That would be a good and interesting experience, wouldn't it?

Hello po! How are you? 😁🤣 I am Zander po, I am 13 year old newbie here po!. Your photography is very beautiful po! You are a great photographer po, and you sharing it on Hive po. Your photos look alive po👍🤣😍🤩 I also love photography too😁, I wish I can also take photos like that someday po. I don't have a camera I only use My Mama Cellphone Camera po
I also make videos po. I enter Hive po to show my talents and skills but not to lift myself po🤣😁 You can also check my profile po. Sir @tattoodjay May I ask a question po?. Can I cross post po my post in your community po?.🤩😁 or does your community po accept Dreemport Challenge entries po? I only ask po😍🤩 Sorry for asking because I nervous to post my articles because my Dreemport post po is muted. I want to promote po my Post. I am not forcing you po I am only asking.🙏😊 You can check this post po kindly tell me po if I can cross post po? I wish if you can not accept my post, you can tell me where can I cross post my post for views po Thank you po. Here is my post!😁❤️

hi @czander ☺️

I'm here to help again! I get notifications when people mention DreemPort so when I saw the comment was from you having more questions, I thought I would drop in again hehehe

so first off, I'll tell you again, that you need to read the guidelines for each community. The community that @tattoodjay has created is for people taking walks on Wednesday and taking photographs on that walk.

so your post for DreemPort has NOTHING to do with that! 😂 so no....it does not make sense for you to put any post into any community.

It makes sense for you to find a community that you would like to post in...and then follow the instructions of the community as to how you should enter a post.

If the community is for creating recipes, then you would create a post with a recipe and enter it there.

if the community asks a question over the weekend.. then you would write a post answering that question and enter it into that community

if it's for taking pictures on a Wednesday walk.....then do so ☺️

but you can't just drop any post into communities that have very specific guidelines. Ive already told you this.

If you keep going around and asking the same questions to more community leaders, it won't be helpful to you. I know that you are only 13, and that's why I want to help you find your way, but you need to do the work yourself too. You're old enough to do this, right?

also, please ask your mom for help on Hive, because she used to write here and she can help you a lot. All newbies need someone to guide them, and your mom is the best person to help you there.

Keep writing! and keep enjoying it!

also... I know you explained that "po" is a sign of respect in another comment, but not many people know this. And using it 28 times in the comment above can be very confusing for people and make them think that you're making fun of them with a strange word. I know that you're not, but if the word is unfamiliar and repeated so often, it's not a good idea to do this.

Perhaps consider using "Sir" or "Mam" as these words are also signed of respect but also familiar to many more people around the world, and Hive is an international community. When people get to know you better and understand this word "po", then it might be better use it then .

I know you're working very hard to be seen on Hive and want your content to be appreciated. It takes time to grow, but if you keep writing and joining community initiatives to write for and support, then you will find places and communities that work best for you!

Hope this helps ♥️

Good morning po!👋. 😁Thank you po Ma'am!. You are very kind po and patience🙏. I will try my best not to use "Po" even very hard po.😔. Sorry po because I am very much confused po. Mama can not help me more po. After she got sick po (suffered heatstroke po) she can not work more online even if she tried so much, she said she forgets most of policies. She tried to come back here po MAMA RE-INTRODUCTION POST with her few post but she feels uncomfortable after one year po if being away here po. Before I created my own account here I used her account po 😔 But unfortunately I got my Mama muted po in Foodies Community, that is WHY I am confused po. I posted po about food I got muted po (Mama account). Now here in Weekend Experiences I also got muted po only because of wrong title?? But I answered po 3 questions there Ma'am. I also used the first tag po. I followed everything po. About the "Po" if He only read my article po I didn't used "Po" there, instead I explained po what is meaning of "PO" . I followed everything here po Ma'am THERE and here is my ENTRY POST I realized Ma'am many people po only read like scanning po or only upvote or even comment without sincerely reading any article po (not all po). I thought even not newbie violating rules po writing spam comments po. I put the @dreemport article there because the topic is almost the same po about collections. One of topic in Weekend Experiences is WEEKEND COLLECTIONS and my Dreemport entry po is about collections po of my things to showy love to God. If only He read my article he will see I follow everything po. But for the sake of humility po I still admit I made a mistake po even I am confused what is my mistake po.

He muted me without explaining everything so I asked po "WHY". Here is our conversation po in comments.

image.png

image.png

image.png

image.png

Another confusing po!. If He only hide in his community po. Why nobody upvote my article po? Like it is hidden in Hive?If I don't tell them they can not see po. Mysterious po. It is like deleted po. I hope I am wrong. But I also think po of many things, I explore many articles po I see many deserving but only get few upvotes po, other also very short post, spam comments but high upvotes po?. I am only Newbie Ma'am, 13 years old is young compare to others here but I see many unexplained activities po. Some get discouraged po. When I enter Dreemport I feel happy po Mama tell I can see kind and friendly people there po. I am also looking for the names she mentioned to me she tell me they are best bloggers from UU po. But I don't see them po? Where are they? Mama tell I reached out to you but I know you are busy po. Once Aunty @adore-eu called her direct to her mobile number but Mama missed the chance to connect to her again.Aunty @patjules83 too. Uncle Navi also search for her po If only I can create po my own community I will make Hive a Home sweet Home for everyone!. Ma'am can I build my own community po?How?.. Or why you not create your own community po aside from Dreemport? Make Hive a better home po?. I know many have good hearts here po. I need more to explore po. A community where freedom, humility,. Kindness and humanity exist po. Where chances are open. I believe po even the most bad person still need to be given chances po.

Ma'am this reply po is full of High respect. Thank you very much. I am sorry po if I didn't respond to your reply on your post because I didn't want to elaborate more my problem. But I am very confused and tried my best to explore more and more po. I comment here in Sir @tatoodjay because I can see that he is also kind po, put comment in posts. I reviewed Mama articles and study everything po. But I am not perfect to absorbed everything po.

Sometimes po even how brilliant the students if the teacher is bully he will be discouraged po. Discipline is different from humiliating po

Thank you po Ma'am @dreemsteem for your patience and guidance. I remember reading at the article of Uncle Navi in the read cash. "Kill them with kindness" in this UNCLE NAVI'S POST . If only people like you and him and same others exist everywhere we will have a better world po

God bless po❤️

Bye!❤️😔

Everything that God created is beautiful ,and of course these birds are looking beautiful, the colour of the duck caught my eyes, the yellow peak, the been head and the colour of the body...then the duck staying on top of the swan make it to come out more beautiful, it's indeed a nice shot from a right angle.

The subjects on your shots were truly gorgeous I must say. I often heard that one before especially in my school. Sometimes it is used to insult other people just because they are with some people with problems.

I bet you had a great sunday. It's all quiet here now and I can hear the frogs singing..
Have a great weekdays also.

Hi @tattoodjay ! I totally agree with you and in fact the human being biologically tends to gather in groups of people with the same interests and ways of thinking, because we automatically set in motion different biases that we have in our minds and that push us to put ourselves on the side that makes us feel comfortable and reject those that we do not like or discomfort. However, recent scientific studies have shown that diversity favors creativity and well-being, that the more diversity there is in a group, the more homogeneous it is perceived to be. Much of this information I have known through Nazareth Castellanos, she is a Spanish neuroscientist, who disseminates a lot of interesting information on these topics, but so far I have only seen it in Spanish. Here is a reference link:https://www.instagram.com/p/ClS-b1bDBaw/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y%3D
