Both Ends of the Harbor walk

I will warn you this post may include a little rant in the middle, but to try and make up for that I end with a bit of fun I tried on a long exposure shot.
I am back on the Harbor walk in New Bedford for this post, well to be honest this post isn't on the harbor walk itself ( but will be in my Wednesday walk post tomorrow). but are spots at either end of the walk.
At one end, where I often park the car, you can look into the Marina before starting the walk, this was at about 20 to 5 in the morning and it was still fairly dark, so this shot was taken on a tripod with a 25 second exposure which not only flattens out the water, but enables you to capture more light

Now onto my little rant, I know fireworks are a big thing for the 4th of July here in the states and in other countries for other dates of course, and they are very cool to watch but I do have two concerns with them when let off by individuals as opposed to the professional organized displays.
The first concern I have from back when I worked briefly with an ambulance service back in NZ decades ago on Guy Fawkes day which is a day that is big for fireworks back then I saw so many injuries to people who had accidents when letting off fireworks.

I read online that at least 18 Americans died in fireworks-related incidents last year. About 15,600 people were injured and transported to an emergency room.

And my second concern and my little rant is about those who do not clean up after themselves if they decide to let off fireworks in a public place as I saw on a walk yesterday morning at the other end of the cove walk by the pier

Thinking about it perhaps I do have a third concern/issue/rant, Fine I understand people wanting to let them off on the 4th of July Weekend, but it seems people now start letting off fireworks a couple of weeks before and continue a couple of weeks after the 4th, and let them off at any time of the night, I woke last night with a start as somewhere close they let of some fireworks at about 2AM in the morning, now I am lucky and don't have PTSD, but i have worked and lived in places post and during conflict, and when I wake with a start to loud bangs my initial reaction is to think back to those days when the bangs were weapons, so I can only imagine what must go through the minds of those suffering with stress heating them going off in the middle of the night for weeks.
The funny thing is here in MA Fireworks are actually illegal..
It is illegal for private citizens to use, possess, or sell fireworks in Massachusetts, or to purchase them legally elsewhere and then transport them into the state. The law prohibits any article designed to produce a visible or audible effect.

Hearing so many being let off of recent clearly its not enforced and many drive to states where one can buy them

OK rant over and back to photos, yesterday morning there wasn't much of a sunrise, but there was left over remnants of fireworks

And back to the other end of the walk a touch of color in the sky ( this shot was from a previous walk and not yesterday

And the same spot, I decided to try zooming the lens in and out during a long exposure to get this effect with the lights, I tried two or three goes at it and this one I was quite happy with

Most=post?

The funny thing is here in MA Fireworks are actually illegal..

As far as I know, only 16 states (out of the 50) allow fireworks, so fireworks are illegal in most states. Although I am not from the USA, I just/only read this on the internet.

Thanks I fixed that typo
I was curious about which states ban fireworks
Massachusetts is the only state that bans the sale and use of all consumer fireworks, including novelties and sparklers.

Oyther states ban any aerial fireworks as you say but allow sparklers and fountain type fireworks

I think I'll have to try to take blue hour shots sometime again. I haven't taken many of these before, but I like yours a lot, and of course, we don't have such a huge harbor here which is almost as big as some of our lakes ;)

Every New Year many people get injured because they think they can hold fireworks in their hands or are to slow or too drunk... So it's about the same here, although some light fireworks are legal to buy and use, but depending on the weather or the area the authorities may allow fireworks or not.
