Chalk art on the walls by East beach

Chalk art on the walls by East beach

Good morning all I hope you all doing well and wish you a good day

One morning last year when I was driving to Fort Tabor Park here in New Bedford I saw some guy crouched down at the Wall beside East Beach, and wondered what he was up to thinking he looks odd or was up to something suspicious.

Turns out when I was coming back from my morning walk I saw that what he was doing was some chalk art on the walls and I saw him working on finishing off one piece, I spoke to him briefly and thought what he was doing was cool but he preferred not to have his photo taken but in this post I will share some of the chalk art he did .

Starting with this piece with sunglasses and a beach chair and umbrella, with a view of the beach in the background.

Perhaps he did not want his photo taken as some may see this as graffiti and in a bad way thinking he is vandalizing property, I personally do not see it that way, its chalk which will fade away and be washed away by rain.

What are your thoughts on this?

A lighthouse and a ship sailing by and saying Bon Voyage and have a safe trip, very apt for this location with the Butlers flat lighthouse in view from the beach and many ships heading in and out each day

A Ships wheel, I didn't get the focus right on a couple of these shots but I thought they were cool enough art work to share

NOw whaling used to be a huge industry in new Bedford in its early days so this Whale was also fitting I felt.

And to finish off the one permanent piece of art on these walls the sign for East beach

Ship wheel and whale the two I like most, chalk art is not permanent, a fun palette draw on where others could follow after rains have washed clean.

Lovely photography with seascape background.

Saw you post this in threads just now Jay.

They are so cool, and I think the whale at the end might be my favourite.

I also find this cool, maybe doing this is like a hobby or maybe a way to ease the stress. Whatever the reason is this is definitely a cute art 🤩 and you nicely captured it.

His chalk arts stunning and I like them, especially the pic with "sunglasses and a beach chair and umbrella". I guess that guy is none other than the beach-loving artist himself, haha

Those random acts of art used to catch my attention much less than they do now. Now, I appreciate them in part for the splash of colour and life they offer for anyone who would enjoy them. I also pause to transport myself into the mind and moment of the creator a sec and enjoy the creation.

Just moments ago while curating and engaging, I was enjoying hearing my little one playing a Weezer song on the recorder. She is not using it in music class or practicing for a recital or anything. Just spontaneous artistic expression like these chalk creations.

So good when you share it.

I do think we need more spontaneous and random bits of art like thaty inthe world these days

thats so cool about your daughter playing the recorder, I have no musical ability at all I cant even hum a tune, but a brother in law had an amazign ear for music never had one lesson but taught him self so many instruments

ENGLISH VERSION

Chalk graffiti, ephemeral art.

I like the ship's wheel and the whale, they are my favorites. Always the sea fills me with tranquility, with that deep color.

Thank you for sharing

Graffitis con tiza, arte efímero.

Me gusta el timón de barco y la ballena, son mis favoritos. Siempre el mar me llena de tranquilidad, con ese color tan profundo.
