down by the port

down by the port

For this post I am sharing some shots taken on a walk down by the port, and these were a few weeks ago I am glad to report the snow is all gone now.

These are from a couple of visits to the port one morning it was quite foggy and then the last couple of shots on a day with little fog.
Starting with a shot taken just beside my car ( which is behind me in this image), this is the spot I park in when I visit the port and a snapped this quick shot incase it was one of those morning when the fog just quickly disappears

But as it happens I did not have to worry about that, the day I took these first few images the fog stayed for the whole day, infact this was the weakest the fog was for the most of the day, by midday it got what some may call pea soup fog i.e. real thick and visibility was super short, literally just a few feet

But the bright red of the Nantucket light ship was still standing out even in the fog

Whereas the other commercial fishing boats were fading into the fog

So much so I had to do one of these images as a Mono edit, which I like the feel of for foggy images

Now onto another visit there on a clearer morning the reds of these boats was really eye catching

And a different viewpoint in the car park, where I was parked again this morning

And that’s all folks

Love the fog shots. So mysterious looking. The ships fade into nothingness. No horizon. I also like the last shot with all the masts. Again no horizon and no sea visible. Imagination can get going. Could be any type of industrial setting...anywhere...mining operation in Siberia? Happy Weekend tattoodjay. Nice post.

I have not heard about this so far. The travel is probably not easy in this condition. Imagine driving a car in it. Brr. Goosebumps.

Ports are pretty neat. I grew up in a landlocked prairie, but I've certainly learn to enjoy riverfronts and ocean fronts with their ships.

I lived for many years in landlocked countries so I appreciate them mire now than perhaps o did when growing up

Beautiful records with beautiful color combinations. I think he likes pier and port photography very much. The sea and the sky are unique together
