Harvest Moon

On Saturday Morning I headed to West Beach here in New Bedford, as it was a cloudless morning and a full Moon so I wanted to try and catch some shots of it I go to the beach maybe an hour or so before the moon would have set and dropped below the horizon, Initially the moon was the normal whitish color we mostly see.

Now I will preface these shots saying there not as clear and crisp as I would have hoped for dure to a couple of reasons, one I think is I had switched a setting on my big lenses at some stage without realizing it, and that could well be the issue

and secondly, although I am pacing myself to try and ease the numbness in my fingers, Wednesday through Friday I am generally busy catching up with the Wednesday Walk posts and by Saturday the Numbness is fairly bad and I then take a few days not being online much, and these shots were taken on Saturday and most of these shots I was trying handheld with my left hand which has the numbness taking the weight of the lens so that may well be another factor.

But anyway enough waffling and onto the photos

This Full Moon which closest to the September equinox is called the Harvest Moon whihc is the full moon closest to the autumnal equinox and September is usually the month associated with the harvest moon.

This full moon is also called the barley moon, the corn moon, the mid-autumn and mooncake.

The barley moon comes from the harvesting and threshing of barley. The harvest moon is the full moon closest to the autumnal equinox.

Another European name is the fruit moon, as a number of fruits ripen at the end of the summer.

At moon rise, the moon is often reddened by clouds and dust in our atmosphere, and I think it was enhanced on Saturday morning as the Moon was setting as the sun was rising and it ended up being quite red in appearance

I see. But yeah, some fullmoons in our place are cloudy and rainy too.

We are all fine, there's just a lot to do at work and at home, so I haven't been much online.
At the moment I am converting a VW Caddy into something like a camper van and there's still a lot to do, but hopefully next week or so I will be able to take some days off and make a first trip with it 😁

I have wanted such a thing for a long time and after selling my bike and powering down some Hive I could afford an old Caddy (the prices have increased at 50% in the past years). I keep it simple inside - there's not enough space for a second person but for all my camera gear 😁 !LOLZ

Awesome shot's.

I've saw this moon as well but ain't had a Good enough camera to Zoom in and capture it.

Though last night I captured this one

Ain't able to Zoom More though pixels are like already so bad in this. Ah, well the moon was looking so beautiful!

So sorry to hear the numbness is still there and gets worse after you being more active here.
Do take enough breaks 🤓
Getting moon shots handheld is just tough… you can’t get it sharp.
But still your photographs are so beautiful considering all and a wrong setting.
Love the colour and details.

Wow, that is pretty awesome. I love how you can see the craters on the moon in such detail from that far away. It is pretty sweet. That's quite a deep red it turned! Awesome shots!

Wow! That fullvred moon was pretty incredible. No matter how experienced, I think moon shots are a challenge. Add on a heavy lens, carpel tunnel and hello!! I'm even more impressed.

I think showing it off in stages shows just how much change it really goes through. I love the red, but the really cool shot for me is how i can almost map out its surface!
