In the dark of the Morning

In the dark of the Morning

I know in the dark of the night would sound better, but as these were all taken on early morning walks, I had to say in the dark of the morning.

For this post I am sharing some long exposure shots taken well before sunrise, all of them are 30 second exposures, which is the max setting my camera has other than switching to bulb mode ( which I also do often on my early morning walks) where you have to time for yourself how long you want the image to be and then close the shutter.

Starting with a shot at the end of the Harbor Walk looking over a jetty where people can launch there boats off the boat ramp

Now one tip which I just reminded myself on Tuesday having a small fall, luckily I did not damage my camera other than a little scratch, but did hurt my finger and got a small cut on my arm, the tip is

if your heading out on early morning walks before the sunrises and it is almost pitch black, firstly have a little torch to see what your doing if deciding to go down a rock incline, and secondly wear shoes with good grip as with it cooling down some paths can be slippery with due or moisture from the sea spay and hence become slippery.

Now I do always have a torch in my bag, but my go to walking shoes I have worn down and they had little traction left, I bought a new Pair the other day so now am good to go for a while with plenty of grip when walking, and am now reminded again I am not as young as I used to be and need to be more cautious,, which I am being.

PK back to the photos this is at the other end of the Harbor walk, looking back at it and the hurricane barrier wall.

This next shot is another day at Jones Beach in Dartmouth, literally across the borderline between New Bedford and Dartmouth

And for the next shot I am at Fort Taber, Love that this is mostly blues but with a touch of color from the towers along the coast

I can only imagine how peaceful it is, I use to take early morning and late-night walks before I moved back home and I miss it so much.

Yeah, especially when you're alone you should take more care and I'm glad that you bought better shoes. Many times when I have been alone on a mountain or in a gorge or so, I have thought how long it might take to find me if I fall badly.

Cool photos as always JJ 😃 I hope you're having a great weekend 🌞

But as long as you only break your finger, no search team will come to rescue you 😉 I hope the finger is okay again.

Nothing is quite as peaceful as walking out into the darkness, knowing that you will be welcoming the light of day in the coming moments of time.

Serenity at its best, the rhythmic ebb and flow of the water, keeping you company.

The colors take my breath away, so subtle until they break out into a slight of day. You have a magic touch with bringing us out of the darkness and into the light. Thank you!

As an aside, I often think of how many of us walk off into the wilderness of night or forest, not even telling anyone which way we go. No matter how young or old, things can happen. I hope you have a great day!

@tattoodjay, A very beautiful light. Glad to learn from all your drawings. And this is really an effort for me. Thanks for the gift my brother.

I have to say... "In the dark of the Morning" has quite a special effect to it (if that is the right way of saying it...). It immediately caught my attention and almost gave a kind of a "mystical" feel even before I saw the photos.

Wow, I'm just glad you didn't hurt yourself with that fall...and that your camera is still fine too... Yes, I know what you are talking about...when these things happen, you suddenly realize that you are not all the young and flexible anymore ...lol. Just glad you're okay!

Good one...lol.

Glad all is well...and as you say, with new shoes...let's keep it that way.

Enjoy your day!

Would be interesting to know the time of the morning these images were taken. I'm just a curious geography student that wishes to know what dawn feels like in another area.

Are there cameras with better exposure? These look great. Difficult to imagine that they could be better.
