Life Guard towers

Life Guard towers

Good Morning all I hope life is treating you all well

When I get out for walks on a beach I find myself somewhat fascinated by Lifeguard towers which you may have noticed, if I share a post about a walk on a beach if their is a lifeguard tower there I will share a shot of it, but I realized I had a few I had taken and never shared so I thought why not do another post just about Lifeguard towers.

starting with this one on East beach here in New Bedford

Now perhaps I should explain why I find them so interesting which I was just thinking about and perhaps it is my trying to revisit my youth, when I was in my teens I used to be a bit obsessed about being fit for sport, particularly rugby and would bike to the beach about a 3 Mile ride, and swim and run for an hour or more before biking back home and getting ready for school.

Well one morning when I was maybe 16 as I was running along the beach I ran by some surf life guards out training in the early morning, and saw then again later as I got out of the water after my swim.
The head of the group called me over and asked me if I had ever been interested in training as a lifeguard, which I hadn't but being impetuous and young I said but why not and ended up training and volunteering as a lifeguard for a couple of summers.
Well thats my not so short story of why I like taking photos of them LOL

Next up is another one in Mattapoisett

You must have had some real adventures as a lifeguard :) ?

Can I please use one of the pictures as a cover image???

A couple of adventures but for the most part people were pretty sensible there so a lot of standing around witching the beach

and yeah sure no problem :)

My mother in law was a life guard at their local pool for a long time. Really not even close to the same thing given all the unknowns the ocean can throw at you. It's a very important job though. Very cool that you were one of them! Awesome pictures as always!

Sure a pool and the ocean are quite different and different levels of swimming strength needed but still needed for sure

I too am always interested in life guard towers. I was recently on Miami Beach and the life guard towers were colorfully and generally over the top like everything else there 🙄 should have had my camera out but didn't.

Just think outside the box... This is proof that you can take the simplest thing and make it a theme for your photos! How often do we see these lifeguard towers on the beach and just don't pay attention to them? We just take them for granted...they just should be there...

And here, look at these beautiful photos! Just choose the right time of day against the right background and see the magic that you have created here! Wow! This is beautiful, @tattoodjay!

I'm glad those lifeguards got you involved and that it left a lasting impression on you! Thanks for sharing that with us!
