Looking up

When I visited this post by @sketch.and.jam I commented that one of the style of shots i loved doing in NYC was looking up shots as he had done in his post, but where i Live now doesnt have tall buildings so I wasnt sure when I would be doing new looking up shots.

But then I went for a walk in the Acushnet Sawmill park here last week and realised i could get some looking up shots on that walk and hopefully ones that will not cause anyone to have feelings of Vertigo.

I went for that walk to see how the fall colors were coming out, and there were some nice color,s not yet at peak, but this post will show a little of the color I saw there

at the time I walked through his park I only saw one person, who walked by me as I was taking this next shot ( I think) and he stopped to look up and smiled, i guess he often walked trails but seldom stopped to look up, something I think many do just focusing on what is straight ahead along the trail, I had been guilty of that myself on recent walks so thanks to @sketch.and.jam for inspiring me to look up again

In these shots you some shades of fall colors, if the rain ever stops this week by Friday when my wife has an appointment I will swing by this park again and see if the fall colors have come out anymore, hopefully all this rain has not washed them away

I love the mix of bare branches and fall color sin this last shot, I think its my favorite of this series and debated whether to share it first so it was the thumbnail or last for those who check out the post and scroll down.

Dammit man those shots are vibrant and kinda dizzying. The way you have positioned yourself to make the big trunk darken really makes for good contrast and has the colours popping even more.

I may have to find a space and look up with my camera a little more!

Awesome shots! I love taking pictures like this while I am camping and laying back in my lounge chair drifting off for a nap. Those are some the best views sometimes. I am glad that you have found a new way to do these without all of the buildings around you!

Thanks coming from you that is a huge compliment :)

today we popped to the local small Zoo, what a trip photography wise, my camera battery was dead and my spare was in the other camera bag back home, so unlike me I normally make sure my batteries are always fully charged,

Then I messed up settings for a few shots, its one of those days I should have left the camera at home but we had fun there none the less

Again, great shots, love them 😃

Believe me, I know such situations and I know exactly how you feel. Last year I have shot a beautiful sunrise over a lake and never looked at the display to see what I have photographed. What has happened? The day before I shot with in a more dark situation with ISO 2000 or so and didn't reset that value. I was already somewhere else when I realized my failure 🤣 … such is life and there will be another sunrise … or day at the zoo 😀

Most important is that you had a great time 😃

Exactly, and its good to remind us to always check settings before heading out as I just did now, so I take it as a learning experience and we joined the zoo for a year so can go as often as we want ;)

That's cool that you can go there at any time. We don't have real zoos in the near, just smaller wildlife parks, but since the kids are no kids anymore we haven't visited any anymore.

It is a nice spot for a walk, with covid they keep you well away from the fences to the animals so not ideal for photos but nice to stroll around

You could take the long lens with you, but I am not sure if that's allowed in this zoo. In our large zoo in Vienna you may take photos only for private use I believe.

I could but it wouldnt help the cages are the problem and because they have extended the zone around the animals it make sit hard no matter what lens you have

OK, I understand, in that case a drone would be handy ... I'm only kidding 😉

LOL at a drone, I was tempted on amazon day they had 100 off the Mavic Mini, but i decided i would not use it enough to warrant the cost so didn't get one

Yes, I was thinking about the same, but you are so restricted in using it here if you have no license that I have decided it's not worth it.

Yeah thats another factor I did check the app and we live close to a small airport and live in a restricted zone so that was another factor against getting one

Same here - the airport is about 1 mile away as the crow flies and in the city you are not allowed to fly a drone anyway, as well as in the National parks and more places.

Thanks for this reminder @tattoodjay. I look up to the sky to check out clouds everyday but tend to forget the trees and buildings. It is such a great perspective.
