Mono shots from recent walks

Mono shots from recent walks

Good Morning i hope you all had a good weekend

I am starting the week as I usually do with some images taken on recent walks that I felt worked well in Mono edits, now someone asked me recently why I say Mono and not B&W, well that is because I sometimes edit photos in B&W, but I also often do them with other color tones, such as sepia or blues, and hence why I call them mono images

starting this week with a shot of the Statue in Noah's Playground on Popes Island here in New Bedford

Noahs Playground or as some call it Noah’s Place, which opened in 2017, is an inclusive playground for children of all abilities. It’s named after Noah Fernandes, a boy who died at the age of 14 after being diagnosed with MELAS, a rare genetic condition that affects bodily systems, including the brain and muscles.

Noah's Parents worked with various community members to come up with the idea and then development of this playground

I love both its history and how it is built in memory of Noah, and that it is an all inclusive playground enabled children with disabilities to enjoy it
I seldom take photos of playgrounds, especially during the day, I do not want to be accuse dof being a dirty old man taken photos of children, OK I am not young so maybe the old would be right but not in that context if you get what I mean

But i took this shot early one morning when no one and especially no kids were around

Still on Popes Island, a shot of the Swing truss bridge, I just cannot resist shots of it whenever i visit there

This is a shot I took and debated sharing, clearly a homeless person sleeping under the cover at this spot on West beach here in New Bedford.

But I went with it, now I would like to think I am not a cheap person and like to help charities that do good, but I am always dubious about people on the street panhandling for money, I through my travels have seen where this can be either a grift to make money, or to get money for drugs and I do not want to sup[port either of those.

I do occasionally go and grab a coffee and a sandwich and drop it off for a person like this to have when they wake up, I didn't do that this morning however.

NOw I as I have said have seen homeless all around the world, but I think this is the first time I have seen someone sleeping on an air mattress

What a beautiful shoot you have there. People have different opinions to helping beggars out there and I agree with your view. Some instances are so funny when you see a young vibrant guy with no deformity begging. It amazes me

These stunning photos have a 1950s vibe. I can almost see a wife with wing-tipped sunglasses, and a beehive hairdo, alongside her bodybuilder husband enjoying a day at the beach in 1952 America. For people of that time, those were the days!

Tat a nice thing you do, not take photos when there are children around. While you might not have any ill intentions, things could go ugly when others notice and don't like what you are doing. Keep safe.

those are some beautiful shots. the wooden path leading to the building is awesome

(Edited)

I met a homeless man named Mark once, we became friends. I'd rap with him occasionally on my way back from peddling to the gym in Long Beach. He had an air mattress, too (sometimes).

He told me "home is in the intellectual capacity to be happy."

thats cool

When I lived in Queens NYC, there was one I got talking to I often grabbed him a pizza or other food and took to him and chatted and sometimes I sat and ate with him as well, got to know him well over the time
her had had some bad luck and bad choices but was getting his life back in order, when he was ready and looking for work, I went to the Pizza place I went to as I knew they wanted someone, and they took him on, which was a week before I moved from Queens

I went back there a few years later, he was still working there and doing great

Noah's Playground... what a nice tribute the parents of the child, to have a space for children to play.
I really am moved by homeless people, @tattoodjay ! Granting that some chose that path, we cannot stay oblivious to the fact that these people have no homes to go to.

Yes such a touching story about the playground

and yes indeed no doubt there are homeless and its so sad to see, my comment was more about those who fake being homeless

Yeah, like that one you photographed! It may be that he is not homeless; he just wanted to take a nap outside his home, by the beach... so he brought his blow-up bed and pillows... and his lounge chair. Hehehe!
Or he may be just now beginning a life of homelessness. Soon the blow-up bed and pillows and lounge-chair will be gone. Poor fellow.
