morning blues

Morning blues

For those that follow me you will know I love early morning walks, especially to avoid the heat during the day and with my history with skin cancer is another reason I avoid walks in the direct sun, and head out for most of my walks before and during sunrise when the temps are cooler, plus less people are out and about at that time so I find it peaceful and a nice way to start the day.
So for this post, I am going to share photos from various walks, some in the last few days and some further back, all focusing on the morning blues, OK a couple may not be so early morning but still the blues

Starting with this shot taken from beside the Hurricane barrier wall at the end of Gifford Street, there is a small boat launch ramp off to the left

Next up a shot taken the same day as the first shot, I was watching the Osprey nest and saw this cormorant start to take off and snapped a few shots, I liked this one the bird just out of the water and the golden color of the sunrise shining in the splashing water

morning blues-7.jpg

This one I included just to show I don't always get good shots, or perhaps more apt in these case I sometimes mess up and move the camera while it is taking a long exposure, most I never edit and share, but I liked the funky effect on this one

more blues down at the port

morning blues-2.jpg

and more blues, I more moody image this time

morning blues-3.jpg

And why not include another cormorant, sitting on a Bouy

morning blues-4.jpg

and finishing off with a shot similar to the first image from a different angle

And that’s all folks

The images are incredible and the colors are almost unreal. I don't know how you get this extremely blue immersive color but it is fabulous.

First let me start by saying awesome photos! That is so funny that you mentioned the cormorants! We just saw a bunch of them this past weekend. I had honestly never heard of them before, but our tour guide kept making a point of mentioning them on our boat tour!

Thanks for your visit
I find the cormorant so cool to watch they dive for a long period I timed one once for over a minute

These ones were mostly sitting on the cliff face in a rookery. It was pretty cool to watch them.

I forgot to add the other cool thing about them which you may have seen in the rocks was them standing with their wings spread to dry out

Yes, they made a point of mentioning that!

Morning blues good topic for today. Gonna be hot a muggy here. I got out and did a few things this morning but the rest of the day will be slow and draggy and hot and humid. I like the color of the Inheritance boat and the reflection. I think some of your best shots are ones that pick up a splash of color from the docks or boats to go with the sky and water colors you do so well.

the Blues certainly are a wonderful morning surprise! thanks for showing us a little about the harbor, and of course, who doesn't love the cormarants?

I think one of my faves was the long exposure where you catch the running lights in the harbor

Beautiful. I remember the first time I saw cormorants and couldn't figure out what they were. It was when the internet was just a baby to me and I didn't have a phone camera because they didn't exist. I had to actually stop an 18 wheeler and ask a guy what the crazy birds were and why were they all sitting like that. Remember when we had to pose questions to other people?

OHh yes i remember doing very similar back them, when I first saw the Cormorants, I have bene somewhat fascinated with them ever since

Yes I am old enough when the options ot learn were to ask someone or visit a library :)

I love that shot of the cormorant! What a great shot! The edit is striking in color. The entire post with the daylight almost there shows off such a beautifully saturated night into the breaking of the day!

Wonderful!!! I love it!!

My main reasons for getting up early are that I have most places most times for me alone and I love the time before the sun actually rises, just like in your images.
I love the shot of the cormorant - the golden splashing water looks awesome, JJ 😀

Some sick shots! Love the one with the bird taking off.

I need a tripod for long exposures as my hand is far from being steady. It's a real bummer.
