Pleasure Craft

Pleasure Craft

Good Morning all wishing you all a wonderful day

I often share photos of walks around the port here in New Bedford and focusing on commercial fishing boats, but onmy walks I often see yachts and other pleasure craft and thought I would share some shots of those today.

Starting on Popes Island which is a small island between New Bedford and Fairhaven and some of the yachst docked at the Popes Island Marina

I have never bene out on a yacht that I can remember but was just thinking abotu how when I lived in Milford I was invited by someone on facebook to go out with them for a weekend ontheir boat, I didnt know the person at all and my wife isnt keen on being out on the water at all after a couple of incidents whe had when she was younger so I politely declined, but later I did kick myself for declining.

Whay you may ask, well one day I shared a photo of a big Yacht docked at the Milford Yacht club it was not a Mega yacht but it was huge and looks beautiful, a few days later the person who had invited me for the weekend onboard, commented cool I see you got a photo of our boat that must just have been befoe we heading off to the Caribbean.

Ohh well even if my wife had known it was that boat she would still not have wanted to go out on it

Now I know yachts are not cheap and even smaller ones way out of my budget, so these couple of boats are perhaps more in my budget level :)

Some more boats in the marina, I imagine these ones are used more for fishing

I believe even the little motorboats are expensive these days 😂 I'm guessing even if you could afford a yacht, you'd not get one unless your wife was willing to enjoy it too?

I think it would be cool to go out on a yacht as well. We have so many of them around here, but I have never really been on a big boat besides ferries. I road the one out to the statue of liberty and then we have a few of them here where I live.

Yes I have done a few ferries as well, the one tot he Statue of liberty, one to ireland a few times and between islands in NZ ad probably more I cant remember right now

Would be nice to go out on a yacht one time, but since my wife would never go probably just for a few hours

My dad is kind of the same way. He loves to fly, but my mom would never step on a plane. Given that fact, he hasn't flown in years.

yeah similar, but good we both me and your dad choose to do things together with our wifes and not head off our own way

I love yachts, I always had the dream of having one, but as you say, they are very expensive.
What beautiful shots at a price that you have shared with us.
Have a great day dear friend @tattoodjay

I think a small boat is still expensive to maintain and care for, have you ever thought about renting a boat for a day? It would be a way to experience life at the sea without having to spend a fortune 😅

Only a pleasure my friend, and as we grow older birthdays have started to lose their shine !LOL
Grandpa, shovelling snow and picking up the granddaughter at least keeps you busy. A big change from your days at work and taking photos of the big buildings in the city.

Ohh yeah thats true

MY mind is on Friday and my Cardiac treadmill stress test, which I have to do before the Cardiologist will clear me for surgery, am hoping I get the clearance if I have blockages around my hear they will want to clear those first which would dela my surgery for a year and I just want it over and done with
Ohh yeah a big change from my working days but loving them

Whoa! I didn't know that you need surgery JJ?
My last cardiac treadmill test was a real issue, as the guy kept on increasing the speed of the mill, and I forced my gammy left leg to keep up. In the meantime, my shoulder was damaged from hanging on.
I hope that your issue is not serious my friend.

Yeah, I remember discussing your pending retirement with you some years ago. A different life mate.

I did one a few years ago, back before I had the stents inmy legs and my legs cramped up badly but I tried to keep going but then they stopped because I got an irregular heart beat, I am hoping that was becaus eof the cramping, and it goes fine this time

My issue isnt to serious, basically I have bene havign colonoscopies every 6 months and each time I have had more polyps, 20+ last time, my brother back in NZ the same, so we both were giving genetic tests and both have a gene that gives us a high chance for Colon Cancer ( by high like 95% at my age) and the Dr felt that even though I have bene lucky and none have turned cancerous yet, that 6 monthly colonoscopies will not keep it at bay and referred me to an oncology surgeon who ageed and they are planning to remove mos tof my colon only leaving a small section where it connects to the rectum

A fairly serious surgery, he said 5 to 7 hours long if all goes well and then a week in hospital again if all goes well

Me being me I told the surgeon I am an over acheiver so Surgery will be just under 5 hours and I will be good to be released fromthe hospital in 4 or 5 days :)

Cheers and !BEER

Now I remember that one that you had years back, and we also discussed it.

Your situation is indeed serious, and the doctor is correct that the colonoscopies will not be able to cure it. I say that its serious as one doesn't want to fool with cancerous polyps, but I just wish that there is a better way to rectify the gene. Apparently not to be and when are you going in for the operation?

We will pray for you.

I did do some research and it does seem the best option for the long term off to the medical clinic for the stress test in an hour and a half, lets hope that goes well I think I am more concerned if the Cardiologist finds blockages and wants to clear those first as she said if she does and puts in a stent then I would have to stay on blood thinners for a year and my surgery would have to be delayed till after that and I am more concered about the 6 monthly colonoscopies not keeping the cancer at bay

thanks so much

So, by now you will know what the test revealed, and I hope that it was good JJ.
Another stent will be a problem, as it will certainly delay the entire process, and that could relate into some real problems for you.

So we hope that it was all good.

I felt the test was going well I was walking away on the treadmill feeling good and got my heart up to about 120 and the goal they had was to get it to 133, then the oxtgen level thingy on my finger dropped to 89% I said i felt good was breathing a bit heavy but still talking and feeling fine, but they stopped the treadmill and moved me onto a stretcher to increase heart rate with a medication, maybe less than a minute after they stopped me the put the finger thingy back on and my oxygen level showed as 97% which is good for me so it all seemed weird to me

as for the results, I felt fine all through it sso am hopeful, but guess I will find out on Tuesday

I need to trust the doctors recommendations and do what is needed, but putting off the surgery is a bit of a concern, but what will be will be

Not a good sign if your oxygen suddenly dropped like that JJ. Let's hope and pray that the result will be good my friend 🤞🙏

I think that the doctors also want to prioritize the surgery, but they know that if the oxygen in your blood circulation system will not be up to it, then they first have to correct it. Better safe than sorry.

So, let's wait and see.

Yeah true, but I think the damage to my lungs due to when I had TB is a big factor on that, they still got my heart rate up and finished the test, so lets see what they say on Tuesday

I remember the TB, and I take it that after you were cured, there are still some damages to your lungs?
Please don't forget to let us know what the result of the test is.

Indeed
Well surgery is delayed there was some restriction on blood flow to part of my heart so Dr is sending me for a cardiac catheterization and adving that Dr if restriction isn't to bad and surgery is safe leave it be for now but if not to do what's needed

And since that going to delay surgery for at least three weeeks if all goes well sending me to see a lung specialist as well. Fun fun fun lol

Nice shots. Money reflects well of the water 😂🤣😂 I actually like the second shot of the smaller, colorful launches best I think. I used the have lunch at a deli in a marina at a job I had in California. Luxury yachts are always beautiful and interesting.

I do love restaurants that have a deck with a view of a marina or out onthe water a nice meal and dreaming about being out on one of the yachts

Boats aren't cheap.... It would be fun to have my own yacht but it's not in the cards for me! I've been out fishing many a time throughout the Caribbean, and it's a lot fun. Still not sure I want to actually own it and maintain it. They aren't cheap to maintain either...
