Sublime and Beautiful Sunday _ early morning light

Sublime and Beautiful Sunday

Before getting into this post Want to wish anyone in the path of Hurricane Henri all the best and to stay safe, the outer bands of it and touching us now, some wind and heavy rain but nothing to bad yet, it looks like it will swing to the west of us but wont be as bad as it could have been for us, but still predicting heavy rain, wind and of course with that power outages along its path.

They say the power outages may be a multiple day thing so if I go quiet for a couple of days that could be why, but fingers crossed we will be lucky

This post is for #SublimeSunday is inspired by @c0ff33a and #BeautifulSunday is initiated by @ace108.

As you know I often go out in the early morning to catch the sunrise, but sometimes I get to where I want to try for shots a little early, and its still pretty dark and I have some time to fill till the sun starts to rise and I wonder about looking for shots that may work in the semi darkness at that time, and this post is a few shots from such an outing.

I went to the Port to get some shots, and while waiting for the light to get better I snapped a few shots.

Starting with this shot Looking down between a couple of the docks, a couple of police boats in shot, and a touch of red in the sky, which Io be honest I barely noticed when taking this shot

Now the rest of these shots and perhaps the first one, some may not see as beautiful being dark and perhaps moody, but I do find the early morning even before the sunrise can be beautiful

Next Up we have the Fishermans memorial statue, which I have shared shots of in better light, but I do like this one as well witht he lights in the background.

Now this is where the more sublime part of this post comes into play, its just looking down a ramp to one of the piers, but I liked how the ramp and the pier made a leading line/vanishing point into this image.
Now I know many may think why would you take a photo of that, and I know that because as I was taking this photo a passerby said the exact thing to me, and how did I answer you may wonder.
Simply I said, because it caught my eye, it may not appeal to everyone but beauty is in the eye of the beholder and smiles.

I then crossed across the road into the downtown part of the city with the cobblestone streets to get a couple of shots, I literally only took two shots as looking at them on the screen of my camera I wasn't that impressed with them, but when I saw them on my computer I liked them and edited them for this post.

A question for the other photographers, do you also sometimes look at a shot on the camera screen and think either WOW thats good, and then see it on the computer and then think what the heck,

Or Look at a shot on the screen and think, this is terrible only to find you like it on the computer?

Thats why I never delete photos off the camera, until I have imported them all to my PC

And looking the other direction on the street, I love the cobblestone streets down there, I generally tend to edit them into Mono, but with these two I stuck with color

And that’s all folks

I love them all, especially the first photo has such a calm and dreamy look in my eyes 👍
I also don't delete photos in camera, except the ones that are really blurry, and many times an image that looks good in camera isn't that good on the big monitor :)

I am almost always more impressed with the shot as it looks on the viewfinder than when I look at it on the computer. I have lost count of the number of times I've looked at it enlarged and was disappointed. Alas.

Great shots @tattoodjay! Superb job with the lighting, and your perspective is always top notch.

Thanks for your feedback I think that's mostly the case with me as well

Yeah I can see why you took the ramp, the line that it created. Not an absolute definitive linear line so to speak, but it became the centrepoint which made each of the spots in the outer peripherals more distitive and then there is the perspective from the handles. Nope Loved it.

I almost love the ramp shot as much as the first shot...

And I know what you mean about thinking one thing but the opposite being true with your photos.

Many times I've taken great photos of gorgeous flowers or whatever, put them into photoshop and fiddled with them a bit thinking that they would look great on my redbubble products, but very suprisingly, they don't...so I never delete photos- even my old film.

I will still keep it (though one day I might put it all in a big bucket of water...) but I doubt it. I'm angling for more photo albums....(not that I need anymore of them either..🙄.....)

Atleast you'l get some good shots out of the Hurricane, after all this is a moment in history for you guys, not a good one, but something to remember...

Take care!

And I will not put them into a bucket- until I absolutely have to. 😄

First photo of the docks is stunning, capturing the moment with soft light in sky.

Pier going into yonder another nicely balanced shot of feeling movement drawing you along.

Cobblestones always a great feature, what I enjoyed here is the soft street lamp lights inviting you to enjoy their warmth in the early glow of morning.

Another fantastic set of early mornings out JJ.

Wow! Certainly beauty is in the eye of the beholder and these pictures are just IT! With good lens, pictures taken in the dark or at twilight are always stunning.

I particularly like the first picture. You captured the beauty of the reflections of the buildings and the lights in the water.

Nicely done! Happy Sunday! 🙂

Funny thing, I didn’t realize you were in Mass as well! We are north of Boston ourselves! I’ve seen you host lots of things but didn’t really check it out, sorry lol.

Love the snaps of the docks! I used to love living right near the water, it was a lot of fun to get out there and catch a sunrise! Some great pics you got here. I think the one down the walkway to the dock is my favorite. Cool vibe to it!

Thanks I also didn’t know we lived fairly close
We only moved here last year after I retired and haven’t made it to the Boston area yet but we will one day

Have a great day

Such a quiet moment on the streets. I think the vanishing point shots are great.
Sometimes, I do delete the photos on the phone but only those I'm sure I don't want.
For the uncertain, I still go back to look on the computer monitor before deciding to delete.
