Sublime and Beautiful Sunday a few flowers in Buttonwood Park

This post is for #SublimeSunday is inspired by @c0ff33a and #BeautifulSunday is initiated by @ace108.

For today I will share a few photos I took on a walk the other day in Buttonwood Park here in New Bedford, one of my rare daytime walks. I dropped my wife off to get her hair color done, and since that takes about an hour and a quarter, I had my camera bag with me and popped to the park for a walk.
I loaded my camera bag up for this walk, including my Tamron 50-400MM lens, hoping to catch some photos of birds there on the pond, but there were only a couple of swans which I did get shots of in the distance, and may well share those at some stage.

I think the reason there are not many birds on the pond is it is covered with algae, but I will get into that later. I switched gears and walked around the park looking for other things to shoot, and came across this little garden by the greenhouse.

so I got some shots of flowers, starting with this Strawflower also known as an everlasting flower or paper daisy.

I think this is a close in shot of a portion of a Begonia, but I could well be wrong

and if google image search is not misleading me this is a Sweet William Barbarini Purple plant

and this one I did not search as I think it is a Blackeyed Susan

Now back to talking about the algae on the pond, this shot shows how bad it is

Direct sunlight and temperatures above 75F 24C throw algae and cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) reproduction into overdrive, and since we have been well over that at times, I guess its no surprise that it has happened.

I did speak to a friend who is part of a group, Friends of Buttonwood Park, about how it's such a shame this has happened. Another factor of course for the algae and the polluted water is all the geese that come here, they do their business everywhere and that contaminates the water.

I said that a fountain or an aeration system help to keep the water cleaner, and he mentioned that is or was aeration system there, but it doesn't seem to be working, and he would bring it up with the people who manage the park

to give an example of how it was before the recent heat we have had here is a shot from earlier in spring

Good day, Mr. @tattoodjay.

It's very kind of you to accompany your wife to the hairdresser, and what a beautiful place you visited while you waited for her.

I love nature, especially flowers.

Beautiful photos.

Dropping your wife off for a hair appointment is the absolute perfect excuse to grab your camera bag and head to the park! An hour and a quarter is a great chunk of time for a stroll. Even though the birds didn't play along, you found some stunning vibrant flowers to make the detour completely worth it.
