Vineyard Wind Turbine tower construction site

Vineyard Wind Turbine tower construction site

Good Morning all Have a great day

Today I will share a few shots of the Vineyard Wind Wind Turbine tower construction site here in New Bedford

and let me preface the post that when I have shared photos of the site on Farcebook to a local group it has generated a lot of shall I say heated debate over the pros and cons of Wind Turbines being installed in the ocean, I have my own opinion base don the research I have done but i will not share it here, and would appreciate if anyone who visits this post refrains from trying to lecture or educate other visitors on their opinion of them,
Starting with this shot from back in March just as the site was being set up just the cranes at this stage, I had no idea what they were for at this stage I just have a thing with cranes and took this shot

This next shot is a couple of months later of the blades of the wind turbines, and they are huge to get an idea of the size look in front of the grey container in the center bottom of the shot and you will see three of the workers in yellow safety vests

the view I mostly see of the site walking along the harbor Hurricane barrier walk

but sometimes I walk off the barrier wall and out to by palmers Island and get th9is view of the site

when the towers are finished they and the blades are loaded onto a hug ship for transportation to the installation site, I havent seen that ship yet I think so far its only taken one load out

Wow, pretty impressive. We have a lot of these near where I live. The debate is quite contentious as you mentioned. I've passed the blades on the expressway as they are being transported. I also get alerts periodically on my phone that they are shutting down certain roads in a nearby city to allow trucks to move the blades quickly and safely through town.

It takes that long to build wind turbines? I've seen them from afar, I didn't realize that they are HUGE!
So much for the view, hehehe!

This is so cool. I love big construction projects. I lived near some huge wind projects in California. They were continually building and updating the turbines.
