MONOMAD CHALLENGE : Red - Studio Portraiture for CompCard - 5 photos (En-My)

This is my entry for the daily #monomad challenge hosted and curated by @monochromes.

Hello again everyone. How are you guys today? I hope that all of you are having a great day. Its been a very busy week for me. It is the month for Chinese New Year here. A lot of preparation has been done, including our new studio. I helped my friend to managed his new company including his studio. So today was the last day for us to clean the studio including the main office before we take a 5 days holiday before we resume back to work and prepare for the 10th anniversary of his company, the Kimora Entertainment Network.

So today's post is another black and white portraiture taken in a studio. The new studio with the new equipment. It was a little bit hard to adjust to the new equipment and the new studio environment. It was like changing to a new car with different type of gear transmission , manual transmission to automatic transmission, a big car to small car. To be honest the slightly change of environment and equipment can effect my regular workflow. It was not in a bad way but I still need a little bit time to adjust to these new studio environment.

Meet our model today, Red. He was a newbie in modeling. A manager asked for a composite card for his portfolio. He did not have a pose 'library' yet. I had to guide him for a pose. But one thing I like the most of him is his face expression. He was doing a serious face but at the same time it transmit a different feeling to me. His face contour is unique too. I was having fun during the shoot. It was a little bit hard for me to guide him on every pose but it was really worth it. I think he had a very big potential for a photoshoot model.

Salam sekali lagi semua. Apa khabar kawan-kawan hari ini? Saya harap anda semua mempunyai hari yang hebat. Ia adalah minggu yang sangat sibuk bagi saya. Ia adalah bulan untuk Tahun Baru Cina di sini. Banyak persiapan telah dilakukan, termasuk studio baharu kami. Saya membantu rakan saya menguruskan syarikat baharunya termasuk studionya. Jadi hari ini adalah hari terakhir untuk kami membersihkan studio termasuk pejabat utama sebelum kami bercuti selama 5 hari sebelum kami kembali bekerja dan membuat persiapan untuk ulang tahun ke-10 syarikatnya iaitu Kimora Entertainment Network.

Jadi siaran hari ini adalah satu lagi potret hitam putih yang diambil di studio. Studio baharu dengan peralatan baharu. Agak sukar untuk menyesuaikan diri dengan peralatan baharu dan persekitaran studio baharu. Ia seperti menukar kepada kereta baharu dengan jenis transmisi gear yang berbeza, transmisi manual kepada transmisi automatik, kereta besar kepada kereta kecil. Sejujurnya, sedikit perubahan persekitaran dan peralatan boleh mempengaruhi aliran kerja biasa saya. Ia bukan cara yang buruk tetapi saya masih memerlukan sedikit masa untuk menyesuaikan diri dengan persekitaran studio baharu ini.

Temui model kami hari ini, Red. Dia seorang pemula dalam bidang peragaan. Seorang pengurus meminta kad komposit untuk portfolionya. Dia belum ada 'perpustakaan' pose. Saya terpaksa membimbingnya untuk bergambar. Tapi satu perkara yang paling aku suka dia ialah ekspresi mukanya. Dia membuat muka serius tetapi pada masa yang sama ia menghantar perasaan yang berbeza kepada saya. Kontur wajahnya juga unik. Saya berseronok semasa penggambaran. Agak sukar bagi saya untuk membimbingnya pada setiap pose tetapi ia sangat berbaloi. Saya fikir dia mempunyai potensi yang sangat besar untuk model pemotretan.

For this shoot I am using three lighting setup. All of the lighting used was the Godox 600W. A main light was attached with a parabolic softbox with the size of 70cm diameter. It was attached with two white diffuser and one square grid on its front. This main light is used only to illuminate his face more and some part of his body. The other light was used as a rim lighting. The rectangle softbox with the size of 35cm by 120cm, double white diffused with a rectangle grid was placed on both of his left and right side. This side light was used to contour his face and also some part of his body mainly on the muscle part.

Untuk penggambaran ini saya menggunakan tiga persediaan pencahayaan. Semua lampu yang digunakan ialah Godox 600W. Lampu utama dipasang dengan kotak lembut parabola bersaiz diameter 70cm. Ia dipasang dengan dua peresap putih dan satu grid segi empat sama di hadapannya. Lampu utama ini digunakan hanya untuk menerangi wajahnya lebih dan beberapa bahagian tubuhnya. Lampu yang lain digunakan sebagai lampu rim. Kotak lembut segi empat tepat bersaiz 35cm x 120cm, double white diffused dengan grid segi empat tepat diletakkan pada kedua-dua belah kiri dan kanannya. Lampu sisi ini digunakan untuk kontur mukanya dan juga beberapa bahagian badannya terutamanya pada bahagian otot.

The side light that being used for rim lighting was perfect to illuminate the face when he looked to the side. I did not expect that the result to be good as this one. This gave me another idea for future photoshoot.

Lampu sisi yang digunakan untuk pencahayaan rim sangat sesuai untuk menerangi wajah apabila dia melihat ke sisi. Saya tidak menjangka bahawa hasilnya akan baik seperti ini. Ini memberi saya idea lain untuk pemotretan masa depan.

When I looked back to all of his photo, I will never know that he was a beginner in the modeling industry. His look was really great in my opinion. He has the confidence and the 'look' during the photoshoot. Working with him was really a good opportunity for me to gain more experience in a studio photoshoot. I am very thankful for the opportunity to be able to get his photo.

Apabila saya melihat kembali semua fotonya, saya tidak akan tahu bahawa dia seorang pemula dalam industri pemodelan. Penampilannya benar-benar hebat pada pendapat saya. Dia mempunyai keyakinan dan 'look' semasa pemotretan. Bekerja dengannya benar-benar satu peluang yang baik untuk saya menimba lebih banyak pengalaman dalam pemotretan studio. Saya sangat bersyukur kerana diberi peluang untuk mendapatkan gambar beliau.
