The Adventures Of Christmas Day, Searching For The Missing Caves

Well Hello There Travelers And Hivers

It was the day of Christmas and well lets be honest not much was going to be done today besides eating at the feasting.

See we hand out the presents the eve before Christmas so all of the presents are already opened.

So after the feast what can be done?
Sleep?
No?
We shall go to the beaches!

What better way to walk off the fat eaten tummy than beside the ocean!

Off to 1st beach we went, seeing that we wanted to chuck in a good walking session we decided to return to the beach with all the caves, I wrote a post about them a few weeks back. Although the post was written a few weeks back the actual adventure took place more than a year ago!

If you give this post a quick scroll through you'll see the major differences.

Finding And Exploring Hidden Caves On Dana Bay Beach

Can so much change over the span of a year? I mean a little change can seem plausible but the whole of everything doesn't look the same anymore!

Stick around and share in my sorrow!

Coming down the hill on the way to the beach we could see that it was going to be an enjoyful walk.

Land, beach and sea as far as you can see.

The photo doesn't hold justice to how beautiful and serene it looked in person! Now this is the reason why I am keen on getting a plot near the seaside.

Looking to your south you'll see the magnificent ocean spanning from one side of the horizon to the next, looking north you'll see glorious mountains or rack faced cliffs!

Starting A Walk That Would Soon Sadden Us

Last year around this time we took a walk on 1st beach and discovered alot of caves spanning over the coastline, some bigger and some smaller. Most can be called caves! Well the story somewhat changed we we took on this adventure again!

It's safe to say that one can call them hollow outs now instead of caves!

Most are filled with sand because of the changing coastline!

Starting the walk I was energized about the whole adventure because I was keen on getting some nice cavey photos again!

It wasn't only the caves that were gone, no. One spot on the beach was covered with rock pillars that people built, or one could say balancing rocks and these were all gone! All of them, the sand and waves knocked them all over and covered them with layers and layers of sand.

There existence was all but wiped off the beach!

One of the few balancing rocks still left! No doubt it's newly placed.

IMG_20221225_152056.jpg

One can't think that precisely a year ago we stood here building rock pillars of our own!

It looks like part of the beach now, can barely distinguish the rock bed on which all those pillars once stood!

IMG_20221225_152904.jpg

This is what it looked like a year ago.

IMG-20211229-WA0069.jpg

IMG_20221225_153039.jpg

Nothing left but tumbled down stones and sand covering most of the areas where rock pillars once stood!

IMG_20221225_152920.jpg

One final rock pillar still stood in defiance of the crashing waves! Although I think it might be newly placed too. But let's go with the defiance part, it sounds oddly powerfull!

Well What About The Caves Then?

I don't think this needs much attention this year.

They are also sort of wiped from existence. Mere hollowed out holes in the rocks now.

They were once so big that I could stand freely with my arms stretched out and even then I wasn't able to touch the top of the cave roofs!

Now?

Now you have to crawl your way in

IMG_20221225_153514.jpg

This is what it looked like a year ago, I was able to stand up freely with a lot of space around me. This is not the case anymore.

IMG-20211228-WA0034.jpg

This goes without saying, the Betty is short and she always had too much space, if I was able to move around freely she was able to run around freely and even she has to scrape and claw her way inside the little cave.

Whenever I refer to sadness in my future posts, this is what I will refer to! I was so excited because of the fact that we will re-visit the caves and get some more amazing photos! But now it looks like a dried and faded out memory, literally.

I understand why some people might be fed up with life, because that little adventure had me fed! 🤣

IMG-20211228-WA0037.jpg

See? She's higher than the entrance even, where I wasn't even able to reach the top of the cave even if I stood on my toes! it's mind blowing, yes I know it's been a year and the ocean moves fast but sheeeeesshh they really can slow down a bit and give us some nice views.

On the other hand living here I wonder if I would have noticed it getting smaller and smaller, I wonder if there would have been a day where I said damn look I could once stand in it?

With The Caves Gone What Can I Show?

Now that the caves are almost non existent. I have no clue what else to share? So here is a rock not worthy of its predecessors!

For The Laughs!

The rock that is not worthy by a long shot!

IMG_20221225_153250.jpg

Since our caves are gone and well we can't have the photo shoot that we wanted I suppose going on with our walk seemed like the best idea! I mean what else was there to do besides swimming in the ocean and finding a nice spot to read our books at.

So we walked and walked until we had to go to the restrooms and well then we continued walking until we reached a point where it seemed to dangerous to walk any further! We had a little sit down on the rocks above.

Needless to say sitting down below wasn't much of an option for us. The tide was getting higher and being trapped between raging waters and hard rock faces isn't quite how we decided to spend Christmas day!

Water smashing against the rocks.

IMG_20221225_155247_1.jpg

We wanted to pass but with the tide coming in it felt a bit dangerous so we sat on the rocks.

IMG_20221225_155223.jpg

Sitting upon the rocks made for a fearsome sight! It felt like we were trapped in the rocks, but in a fun kind of way not the trembling kind! As if doing something we weren't suppose to then running away when the scolding is near! If that makes sense!

Ofcourse we both didn't want to stick around for long, we would have unless our bladders didn't bother us!

IMG_20221225_155446.jpg

It really is just rocks and water from here on forward! Perhaps me and the Betty should return and cover some ground on the rocks themselves, if we have good timing I think it might end up being a great adventure and a good exercise session at that too!

The Highlight Of The Day

Later that afternoon we returned to the beach with some ice cream to indulge in the sunset!

Oh but the photos never do justice at how beautifull nature is as seen with the eyes!

The glare of the sun hitting the water! It gave some nostalgic feeling from a time I can not remember!

Almost as if I feel more at home than I've ever did!

The rocks that are arranged are very interesting, especially the rocks that form like caves, I remember Patrick Star, Spongebob's friend who lives under sea rocks :D
