The Out Of Spec Rebuild! (A Scrap Build!)

IMG-20220820-WA0073.jpg

Well Hello There Fellow Technicians And Hivers!

The What Even Job!

This is seriously and without a doubt the absolute worst job I have ever gotten!

We got this vehicle in and the client asked us to rebuild the transmission, well once we did that the client said that she can't pay that price and we should fit the transmission back.

Okay so we already started rebuilding your transmission, it already has everything replaced. Now you can't pay?
I bet they expected us to just fit that transmission back in and give back the vehicle!

WELL it doesn't work like that! I quickly assembled a nice busted transmission. Now the trick is to have it driving like it did!

The Thump And Bump Maker!

Hell yeah we can! Okay so you don't want to pay then we fit all the junk back in good sir!

Notice how the splines are slightly worn out on the planet gear assembly! Yeah that's going to be felt when switching from Drive to Reverse! It'll be a quite noticeable thump as everything turns in the opposite direction!

Ah well!

The Burnt Overdrive!

Welllll shiiiiitttt! I suppose this ain't my worries at all right?

What I want is for this vehicle to be driven out of the shop and that is all! If it breaks down after two blocks that ain't any concern of mine!

So yeah we are fitting this one! I can't give the new stuff!

It Has To Work!

Oh dear I hope this works!

Screw it if it doesn't!

Well I decided to add some nice clutches to the stack on the over drive! No doubt they wont stay in a good condition for long in this build!!

If only one is burnt your troubles have started a long time ago!

It might be hard to see but there's quite some stuff in there that you don't want!

After all I did only open it up to check if the seal is still in a good condition! It was! But I felt nice and washed it all out!

Might be that the car can drive forever now!!

The Cooker!

Oh yeah! This is the cooker!

No matter if I built this transmission in a pristine condition it will not ever last!

The reason for that is because it has a bad oil pump! So yeah!

It's already worn out and I ain't fitting a new one! So what's going to happen here is it will only get worn out even more as the days go by!

One day it will just completely fail and lock up!

Catastrophe!

The Rust Wag!

Okay this isn't as big of a biggie at all!

There is some rust covering everything, which means that this transmission has gotten water at some point in its life!

If the owner continues to drive it like this the chances of it happening again is there!
Shame poor guy!

Silicone On a 6R80?

This is something I have never done before!

Since the old seals are broken I now have to patch this one up with some silicone on the oil pump bolts! Hurray!!!

This is something I am not at all fond of!
Absolutely hate it!
