No Knowledge Is Wasted, No Skill Is Useless.

Being raised in a society where more value is placed on certificates/degrees from colleges and universities to skills and later having to realise that skills were infact what society needed for growth and not degrees was kinda disappointing. Yeah, the certificates are a proof that individuals were learned in that field, but how many jobs are out there actually looking for the massive crowds graduating from universities and colleges every year.

A friend of mine who just moved to the US shared her experience with me and I was quite amazed by her story. Though she's a university graduate, her first job offer in the US isn't really based on certificates but how fast she could work.
She had learnt hair dressing just a couple weeks before she moved to the US and now currently makes about twice her income from the job due was offered from hair dressing in just a short while.

For more patronage and to build her customer base, she had to keep her price abit lower than the standard but that won't be for long considering the high cost of living and the fact that she pays taxes. She does hairdressing whenever she's free from work and does it pretty fast and so well. I could only wonder what would've have been the case if she hadn't learnt this skill before moving to the US. There were really no plans to learn this skill until a couple weeks before her relocation and with the look of things, her rate of progress would have been slower if she hadn't learnt the skill.

I've personally, had so many experiences that makes me understand the benefits of learning just an extra skill. Even if I don't make money off it at the moment, I do have the skill and I believe it would be helpful some day. As I journeyed through the university, I realised having some sort of skills and knowledge outside of what I was studying was gonna increase my value to my society and to myself. Fortunately, I developed so many of my skills before I finished my programs in the university and surprisingly, some of those skills are my sources of income today and not my university degrees.

Gaining some knowledge about something or acquiring some certain skills is never a waste if time. They may not get you jobs or bring in some extra cash like my friend, but they could save you sone money and even help in saving lives in the future. I'm still quite young to learn some more essential skills that should help me save some money in the future when I start raising my family or get me out or discomfort like when a gadget/ appliance breaks down.

I currently do advocate for children and the younger generation to learn a couple skills while there still young and can easily learn anything in preparation for their future. It really doesn't have to be a some tough/ boring skills. Learning how to swim, how to paint, how to repair stuffs could go a long way. No knowledge is wasted, no skill is useless.

skills are important and learning them when younger is a lot easier than doing so later in life. I think that's just part the way the body and brain develops. I wasted a lot of opportunities to learn things when I was young and it is not lost on my now. I wish I new more. Or at least I was better at learning to learn!

When I think about some skills right now, I wish I was younger too, but then, so long we're alive and well, it's never too late to learn a new skill. Just that it may not be as easier since we have quite alot of life drama already as adults.
