The Most Embarrassing Thing I've Had To Do For Money.

Well, luckily for me, I'm not one that would go to the extreme trying to make money, I know where to draw the line since no situation/ condition is permanent. I've also not been in situations where I'd be desperate to get money or make some money by any means possible so this should be pretty easy.

Nevertheless, I've always loved and admired the concept of money and the problems it could solve since I was a child. You were hungry? money would solve it. Wanna look good? Money solves it. Wanna help others? Money does that. So I've always wanted to have "Money" just like you my friend.

To get money as a child, I started doing some pretty embarrassing things because I wasn't old enough to get a job. The most embarrassing thing I remember doing was hawking fireworks in the neighbourhood😄 .

So here's the thing, back then, fireworks were used during the festive periods like Chrismas and New Year and so most retailers purchase them in massive amounts for the celebrations. Sometimes, these fireworks (Knockouts) aren't all sold out and so the retailer try hard to find ways to sell these fireworks because they can't be held till the next year for the festivities. They also can't be used for other purposes and could cause loss for them.

So I offered to hawk these fireworks for some retailers to get a commission for every pack of fireworks sold. First, it was embarrassing that I was hawking fireworks of all things. I got insulted sometimes by some adults that I was selling a product that "burns money" and doesn't bring any value and secondly, I was embarrassed because I had to hide from policemen and soldiers while selling these fireworks.

You see, there were some strict laws about fireworks back them especially since they misled law enforcement officers and their sounds could be mistaken for gun shots. It was a terrible idea hawking fireworks in areas where these officers where and sometimes, I was threatened by some people that I would be reported to these officers. I was shit scared many times because my parents could not know what I was already into😄. The money I got from these sales came in handy a couple times especially in purchasing new notebooks, shoes for school and also having a little candy fun here and there. 😄

Looking back at a time like this, I'm truly thankful for life and I'm glad to have grown into a better and more experienced salesman.

PS: Selling fireworks was the extreme at the time but there are no extremes now. Lol
