A Lovely Woman (Watercolor Pencil Sketch)

I got the chance to practice sketching or painting again. I had a full day off yesterday, so I decided to draw something while listening to some music in my room. I didn't know what to draw, so I decided to sketch a woman randomly. :)

I was just randomly sketching this but when I showed it to my mom, she thought it was a self-portrait. haha My student this morning also thought the same.

So, when I looked at it closely, I can somehow see some resemblance, but it's definitely not the nose... unless I do some contouring magic. haha

Anyway, let me show you some progress shots of this artwork.

I drew it on my A5 sketchbook. I also placed some scratch thick paper under the page in case I decide to use markers and the like. I'm protecting the next page. lol

Here's the quick pencil sketch. At first, I thought it would be ok to end it as a pencil sketch, but since I had more time, I decided to color it using my watercolor pencils.

I really like mixing a bunch of colors for the skin. I usually start with orange, then brown, flesh and finally, white. In the past, I just use flesh, but mixing various colors makes it more natural looking.

I ended up blending the colors with water. It turned out okay, didn't it? Well, the paper isn't really suitable for watercolor, but it's thick enough not to tear. I'll make more of this kind of art using a watercolor pad next time. I think the blending and result would be much better. :)

I just added my name and the date to finish the piece. It turned out better than I expected. Anyway, here's another photo below but with better lighting.

Ohh, I also added a couple highlights using a white pen. I wonder if you noticed them. haha I'll come up with another art work soon. Please look forward to seeing them!

Thanks for checking this post and see you around! Have a great one! :D
