Aoi Ashito of Ao Ashi (Fan art)

It's been a while since I actually made a fan art, but I couldn't help it because Ashito is so cute. Have you ever watched or read AO ASHI?

It's a soccer anime and is very fun and exciting to watch.

A few years before the anime was released in 2022, I was already following the manga alongside Blue Lock and a baseball manga called BUNGO. I really hoped for them to be animated and my wish came true. Both Ao Ashi and Blue Lock released an anime version in the same year.

Last week, I binged read Ao Ashi from the beginning and finally caught up with the latest chapter 360. Now, I'm in the state of hunger for more of it again. Anyway, let me show you my "Aoi Ashito" fan art.

Now, who is Ashito?

He's the main character of the anime called Ao Ashi. The story started in his final soccer game as a junior high school student in Ehime. He's known for being self-centered and unpredictable. He's basically a one-man team. However, he's easily angered and was removed from the game causing his team to lose.

While losing all hope and reflecting on his actions, he met Fukuda Tatsuya, a former professional soccer player. The latter invited him to the tryout in a J-youth team in Tokyo as he has seen potential in Ashito.

Their fateful encounter ignited the start of Ashito's struggles as he delve deeper in the world of soccer.

So far, the anime has one 24-episode season. It was very exciting to watch. Though it's not as popular as Blue Lock, but if you're into playing or watching soccer, you'd surely enjoy it as well. It has realistic gameplays and tactics, so it's more relatable. I love both of them, though. :)


Going back to my fan art, let me show you a few progress shots below. :)

Here's a rough sketch using a pencil on my sketchpad. :)

After partially erasing the pencil sketch, I started coloring using my colored pencils.

I was getting kind of impatient, so I used markers and colored pencils for the jersey. I made this during my break time, so I didn't have much time and patience to continue with just colored pencils. haha

Using a pen, I did some finishing touches to emphasize the facial features and the hair. :)

And it's done! :)
Aside from Ao Ashi (manga), I also caught up with Ao Ashi: Brotherfoot which focuses on Ashito's older brother, Shun. It only has eight chapters for now, but I'm excited to read it because Shun is also a sweetheart. Perhaps, I should make an Aoi Shun fan art next time! :D
