Garden Update: Recycling Some Soil and Replanting Cherry Tomatoes and Mustard Greens Seedlings + Progress ... <3

Hey friends! It's been a while.
I haven't blogged the past days because of my busy schedule and some other important stuff to do, but I'm back... and there are a lot of things I want to talk about related to gardening as well.

Let's start with this activity I did a couple weeks back. Then, I'll continue with some progress in my next posts, so please look forward to reading them.

As the title suggests, I had to recycle some soil for planting and/or replanting some plants in our home garden.

In the picture above, you can see some pots with soil. These were the pots where we used to have our lettuce. Since they are all fully consumed, I had to take the soil out from the pot and mix them with new ones. The soil can be used, but it wouldn't be great to immediately plant new seeds in them.

I know it's kind of hard, but let's take it as a good exercise as well. Also, seeds grow better in loose soil, so we had to do what we did. :)

We temporarily transferred the soil from these pots and containers into this sack. It somehow loosens the soil, so we can reuse them later on. It was fun because while I was digging, I saw some wiggly friends.

These wigglers are beneficial to plants and they keep the soil healthy. Of course, there are downsides to having a lot of them in the soil, but just having a few of them would be helpful.

After transferring the soil into the sack, I decided to take the chance to replant our cherry tomatoes and Green Mustard seedlings.

These were replanted two weeks ago... and they have actually grown now. It's interesting how some of them grew bigger than the others. I guess it's because they get more sun? I'm not sure... but this is them now.

I would have to transfer them in pots soon... especially the bigger ones.

I planted 20 cherry tomato seeds last month, but only three grew. So a couple weeks ago, I also replanted them in individual pots using the recycled soil.

I actually just kept the container where I planted the cherry tomato seeds as it is... and I'm really glad I did. Because a few days ago, I saw a new seedling growing... and just this morning, another one sprouted!!!

I took this photo last Saturday... but I noticed it around Thursday last week. Then, another tiny sprout came out this morning. I couldn't take a photo, but I know it's a cherry tomato seedling. Usually, just one big leaf would appear first, then a small one would follow after.

Anyway, this was what it looked like Monday of last week. It grew quite fast after I replanted them individually.

And this is how they look today. I'm excited to see them grow even more and bear some fruits.

Speaking of bearing fruits, I'll be updating on some of our other plants in my next post. We also recently harvested and cooked some of them, so please look forward for that as well.

I'll end this post here for now. See you around and have a great one!!! <3
