My Family's Mugs (pencil sketch)

avatar

After my classes tonight, mama prepared some milk for the four of us including Arashi. She was still playing some mobile game on her phone and wanted to stay in the living room until one in the morning. We usually go to our respective room around 1AM so we don't have to turn on the air conditioner early. lol The living room is much cooler and papa likes sleeping on the couch outside in the small patio or guest receiving area. Nights are much cooler. <3

There was still about an hour before one then, so I decided to practice sketching. I took out an old sketchpad, pencil, eraser and some cotton buds. As I've mentioned earlier, we just drank milk, so I decided to practice sketching the mugs which are being dried on the table. :)

I also took a picture of my reference. As I always say, I like learning by trial and error because making mistakes makes me remember more. I'm also not into studying, so I learn by experience or practice. The reason why I did this is to practice drawing and giving emphasis on shading and making the sketch pop up even without coloring it. I'll start with pencil sketches, then in the future, I'll try adding more colors. <3

Allow me to show you some of the progress pictures below.

These were the materials I used. This sketchpad used to be papa's, but he gave it to me. It's kind of old, so you can see the yellowing of the paper. (Is "yellowing" a word? haha)

Yep... trial and error. I learned to focus on one item at a time, so I erased the two others. haha

I only drew the item, but didn't include the design of the mugs since I wanted to focus on something. Also, I think if I include designs, I would want to color it... so, let's do it one step at a time. haha It's actually done, so let's just add the username and signature.

I just finished taking a shower, so I didn't comb my hair. haha Anyway, I'm kind of happy with the sketch because they're kind of 3D-ish in some angles. Yaaaay~!!! I finished it in less than an hour. I thought I'd need more time. haha It was pretty fun, though. I'll practice more in the days to come.

Thanks a lot for dropping by! Feel free to give more suggestions below. <3 See you around!
