Love || Has Forever Become An Illusion?

Recent events have made me realize that the word forever should be scrapped out from wedding vows because in my opinion it has become nothing but an illusion. Recent chart of failed marriages and relationships in the world today is surprisingly high. These are people who once vowed forever but it failed them. Many end up asking themselves why and blaming themselves for not doing things right.

I am well aware that most people promise forever because they have faith in the word and believe it to bind them with their partners but they're always snapped back to reality when everything they sweated to build comes crashing.

I believe in love but I don't believe in forever. That word for a long time now has been crossed out in my dictionary. It's acceptable to be used in other contexts but the context of relationships; be it platonic or sexual does not sit well with me.

So there's this TikTok influencer, I follow that had something like the most beautiful relationship in the world. I followed her because of how much I admired her relationship. I know I broke the rule of not believing everything I see online, but her relationship seemed too good to be mere screen theatrics.

Few days ago, I saw videos of her boyfriend getting married to someone that wasn't her. It was shocking that I had to go look up her account to confirm it wasn't one of these social media scammers trying to trend. She had taken down all the videos that had her and the boy in it. She turned off comments and posted heartbreak vids and quotes. I was dumbstruck. A relationship of almost five years soiled in the mud.

If one is in love, in my opinion, I feel forever shouldn't be promised. Just love, live, and be grateful for what you have. I know we all like putting our faith in things, but I'd advise we don't hope too much. Having high hopes on something makes us break more than we should have when it doesn't work out the way we envisioned it.

Love is a beautiful thing, we all know this but avoid sitting at the rooftop at night to promise anyone forever. Fate always has a different story to tell. Let Fate and the universe decide forever. Don't promise it till you're a hundred years together.

With love, teknon ✨

It's easy to label something ideal or perfect from the outside. The truth is, we're not privy to the full story, in most cases. I had a similar experience with an older couple I babysat for when I was a teen. I thought their relationship was the perfect, coolest relationship in the world. Definitely #goals. Then he started hitting on me. It became apparent he'd tried it with a lot of ladies who were not his wife. On the outside, any relationship can seem perfect, but really, the only people who know that are the ones involved in it.

Divorce has become trivial and everyday, but that shouldn't mean we stop believing in forever. While it's more of a tendency nowadays, I think it depends mostly on the kind of values we foster personally, and what kind of relationship we invest in and accept. :)

Thank you for the thoughtful post, I really enjoyed reading this. Don't lose hope in love :)

Fact!

On the outside, any relationship can seem perfect, but really, the only people who know that are the ones involved in it.

This was what people thought of my past relationship. Unknown to them that I was going through some unbelievable phases until I couldn't anymore. Lol. Sad shit!

I think it depends mostly on the kind of values we foster personally, and what kind of relationship we invest in and accept. :)

I agree 100%.

Thank you for the thoughtful post, I really enjoyed reading this

For me,Love is not about how you promise to a person.Love is when you do what is right, few of words but lot of doing and meanings. Then, love is when you love his/her unconditionally. ☺️💗

Verbally pronouncing love to a person isn't enough, honest actions are required to compliment the phrase so I agree with you. Thank you for stopping by. Greetings 🥰

I am not sure I believe in love anymore, at least not the way people picture it. And also nowadays it is even more rare. So I rather not think about it at all

It's better you don't think about it. I really respect your decision not to believe in love. Thank you for stopping by dear.
