Reunion

It was in the early hours of the morning when I saw her leave the house in her sweatpants. I thought she was out to take a run as always but it's been days now and she hasn't returned.

"Where did she go?" I asked my dad one morning as I was about leaving for school and all he could say was; "she got tired of me" I watched him almost tearing up that morning and all I could do to help was give him a warm hug.

I won't say I don't understand why my mom got tired of my dad, I heard her fight with him almost every evening telling him to get a job, she always told him to act fast and threatened to leave if he didn't and now she's gone out of our lives for real because dad is no longer financially buoyant as he used to be before he lost his job.

He sobs every morning thinking of different strategies to make money just to get her back, he really loves her to that point,he has never spoken bad of her since she left but thinks he was at fault for not working hard enough to keep her. From my father, I believed true love does exist.

He wakes up every morning, writing different applications and submitting them to different companies just to get a job. He's the strongest man I know.

One evening, I returned from school to meet a dinner table set with different amazing dishes and fine wines in between. Slowly I walked in and met my handsome father seated happily asking me to come dine with him.

"What are we celebrating?" I picked a fork ready to dig into the appetizing pasta that sat in front of me.

"We're celebrating ourselves" he smiled mischievously. I was excited that he was smiling again and suddenly I saw my mother walk out from the kitchen into the dinning, I immediately lost appetite.

"What's she doing here?" Pain written all over me I felt like throwing her out but I remembered that she was still my mother no matter what happened.

"Hey, please hear me out" her soft voice echoed in the room and I melted. I missed that voice, I wanted to hug her badly but my ego wouldn't let me, I wanted her to apologize.

She did apologize and swore never to leave us again and then dad broke the news.

"I got a job in one of the companies I applied to," he grinned. I wanted to jump on him, this good news was becoming too much for me to handle. I hugged my parents and I felt the love and warmth from them both evaporate into me. I had missed having such a happy family time.

"So….who made all of these?"
"Your mom did as an apology message" he winked at me and planted a kiss on mom's forehead. I could feel the excitement in my dad's tone and wished their love never ends.
