The Importance Of Perfect Color Combinations In Building Designs

One of the things I've come to observe amongst some builders is that color is often an overlooked piece of their arts, I previously had little interest in these things until about 7 months ago when my boyfriend began his journey of web development and I had to watch him every single day making several updates to the applications he was working on(because to him the color combinations weren't perfect).

All I did was wonder why he couldn't just let it be and yet, at every update he made, I saw a huge difference from its previous state and there comes the question of "what if" he didn't keep pushing, would we ever get to where we are today with the overall design?

The obvious answer here is no and it really says a lot about other fields of designs including buildings of which I'm writing about now after days of constantly viewing a couple of pictures I took on a Sunday.

This is Full Life Christian Centre, one of many well known churches in Nigeria with some arms across the borders of the nation. The church of which I worship was founded in June 2000 by the Reverend Ntia I. Ntia the current functioning senior pastor.

Full Life Christian Centre, often simply put "Full Life" and occasionally "Full Life Foundation" being established following Reverend Ntia's move to Uyo from Enugu, there's a wikipage with major details of its establishment if you may, is one of many fine spaces to been not only for worship, but for the beauty of it.

So, asides being a home for Christians to gather in worship, it is physically an environment quite welcoming due to it's natural sense of peace of which I'd say should have much to do with its location and both the exterior and interior design of the building - if I may put it that way.

The building is quite close to a quite renown place in Akwa Ibom state, the place in mention is called "Christmas Village" in which I've posted a couple of photos taken in the environment in the past, it is but a rather green space where lots of fun experiences are made during Christmas celebrations.

That being said, I've always appreciated beautiful things and this happens to be another way to put the thoughts out there. Being that buildings aren't exactly in my field of profession, it is however always a bliss to see find pieces around town.

What I would commend with this particular one is the colour combination, it really allows it to stand out in an environment of quite a lot of greens but still, manages to not conflict the beauty of the rest.

Looking at other things, it is one of many complex buildings that I've seen, the exterior specifically. The interior is rather open and with little complexity, but the outside has but careful work of art.

One of the things I observed in the coloring aspect of the building's design is that the painters used a combination of design tones of blue(if that's what it's called). You can see some lighter blues used alongside the deep blues but somehow, it doesn't end up causing a rift with the design despite the classes always carrying an even darker blue tone.

Am I forgetting the touch of yellow? Oh but now, this I'd say gives the building distinctive look from what would have turned out looking like the house of the Avatars, lol. I mean, I do see buildings use pretty basic colors in a way that the buildings lack tastes and could easily be lost or unnoticed amongst others. Maybe this was always the idea - being unnoticed, but if we're to consider human's natural attraction to beautiful things, having that uniqueness is quite good for business as your structures will do better in the rental markets or maybe when put up for sale.

Thank you for reading, let me know what you think about colors in design, specifically buildings and what you feel about the design of Full Life Christian Centre.

@teknon I like what is happening to us, and I include myself, is that we are attentive to architectural details that we used to overlook. I like to know through your post the detail of the harmony of the colors with the rest of the buildings, with everything that surrounds it. Thank you
