WHY THERE IS A NEED FOR CAREER COUNSELLING IN EDUCATION
This topic might actually look quite different to a lot of people as how is career counselling related to education but I believe it is one of the topic in the educational sector that is not always discussed in our society in this modern age.
Career counselling is the process of enlighten people about career choice and what will determine the type of Carrer they should further. It is quite a sad thing most times in our contemporary age that most students are sometimes forced to further their Carrer in against what they will have desire for themselves
If you have time as a teacher to sit down some students down, what is the career they will want to study in their higher education, it will be different from what either their parent or guardian will want them to study and even sometimes it turns out eventually that they don't end up pursuing the Carrer ambitions they actually desire for themselves but instead end up pursuing the one either their parents or friends have for themselves.
I have interacted with some of my friends in school where I studied civil engineering and it is quite a shock that some of my friends are in school not pursuing the desire Carrer they wanted but the one other people want for themselves.
Not only that, if you have some discussion or counselling section with some students, you will discover that they don't actually know what they want to become in life. Well that might sound crazy to some of you but that is just the truth.
I was also once in that shoe back then, I discovered that I don't even know which career occupation I want to pursue in my and in accordance to my education, but thanks to the Carrer counselling I got exposed to which actually open my eyes to where my passion and like in life lies and then it becomes easy for me to decode I want to become a civil engineering
A lot of students in our school actually needs this Carrer counselling much more than we underestimate it at times. There are some people even in university who does not know what their passion lies.
There are a lot of students who doesn't know the pros and cons of the desire Carrer they are pursuing and so they don't really even know what lies ahead.
Our school really need to incorporate Carrer counselling and most times teachers should learn to devote time to have some Career counselling sections with their various students. This will do good much more than we can imagine in return
Greetings, professional orientation is important, in Venezuela there is or was a centre called CNU which means National Council of Universities, through this centre they used to do a test, I don't know if they still do it because of all the changes that our institutions have undergone in the country...there they gave a slight orientation, however the majority did not follow the orientations and entered where they got the place without seeing if they liked it or not...other times what their parents suggested or to continue the family traditions.
I consider this point important.
Saludos, es importante la orientación profesional, en Venezuela funciona o funcionaba un centro de nombre CNU lo que significa Consejo Nacional de Universidades, por medio de este hacían un test, no se si lo seguirán haciendo por todos los cambios que han sufrido nuestras instituciones en el país...allí se daba una leve orientación, sin embargo la mayoría no seguía las orientaciones y entraban donde conseguían el cupo sin ver si les agrada o no...otras veces lo que les sugieren sus padres o por continuar las tradiciones familiares.
Considero importante este punto.
Very well said. Profession orientation is quite needed a lot of students really need this. Quite a pity our school are not giving it the attention it deserves
