DO WE HAVE TO BE SERIOUS ALL THE TIME?

Hi, its been a while since I wrote my introductory post and I haven’t written anything since then because I have been thinking of something very reasonable or intelligent to write.

Its funny because one of the reason I joined hive was so I could express myself freely and now that I’m here, I’m putting myself in a box. Maybe its my personal fear that people wont accept it I don’t know.

After thinking long and hard about the content to put out, I decided to not think too much and just write what’s in my head. I mean life doesn’t have to be so serious.

So here I am at 1am with my sisters laptop typing anything that comes to mind.

DO WE HAVE TO BE SERIOUS ALL THE TIME?

Why does everyone become so serious as we get older? Once you’re in your 20’s, everyone automatically wants you to start acting a certain type of way and once you do otherwise it looks like you aren’t serious with your life

Like please stop asking me where I see myself in the next five years.

I just want to think about what to have for breakfast, lunch or dinner I really don’t want to be asked such serious questions.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying you shouldn’t take your life seriously but can we normalize having unproductive conversations sometimes?

Like can we play dress up and make unnecessary funny videos?

Ask me what my favorite food is, lets play hide and seek and just have fun like kids.

Note....the adult in me is looking awkwardly at me right now. But its cool lets ignore it for now. This post wasn’t supposed to be anything serious anyway.

ADULTHOOD NA SCAM

How does it feel being an adult? One thing I can say for sure is it’s not fun paying bills though. Oh yes its also not fun making really big decisions and then facing the consequence of your decisions whether good or bad.

I miss when my parent had to be the one doing the thinking and all I have to do is listen, obey and follow instructions. I miss having so many extra cash and I also miss playing in the rain.

I MISS BEING A KID!

I was in my feelings and in one of my lazy moments when I wrote this so please don’t be surprised when I come on here to write about how to make it before 25 or how to make sure you take your life seriously.

IN CONCLUSION, be an adult but don’t forget to nurture the child in you

I would love to know what you do when you don't feel like acting like an adult or how you escape reality.

I also miss playing in the rain.

People find it very weird when I say this, I mean, I'm the same person, am I supposed to suddenly become all serious and grown up because of my age and not love the rain? 😂 Hell no.
I stopped being apologetic when I realized they'll think whatever they want regardless of my actions.

Naturally I can be a worrier without all that pressure. The pressure only makes me less productive so I just do what I will, having it in my mind that my life is in my hands (God's hands but you understand 😂).

I play in the rain, I play dress up and I make funny videos all of which I'm not sorry about 😂😂. The child in me is thriving and the adult in me is budding and I just try to stay happy 🤗.

Dear Teminike, at the end of it all, na you sabi how e dey do you. As long as we have knowledge of the effects of our every action on our future and we are intentional about it, just stay happy jare and thrive mentally 😌🥰

how to make sure you take your life seriously.

I'll watch out for that 😂🤣

To that question, I do a lot of things 😂, recently I picked up crochet. It's one of those things we tried hands on as teenagers and I'm just learning how to make my creations look better, wearable at least 😂. Seeing my progress in my creations (don't mind my language, my creations so far is one and a half beanies), makes me feel very happy and proud of myself.

This is a good one @teminike, you never go wrong expressing yourself 😌. Looking forward to reading more of your rants 😂 and other articles as well ❤️❤️

Do you gettttt?? 😂😂 like I have never been this age, this is my first time. I love how that perception didn't make you stop loving the rain though. I also love the sound and smell of rain 😍😍.

Yes sis! Make those videos and don't be apologetic about it... Although I will love to watch one of those videos 😂😂

“ The child in me is thriving and the adult in me is budding and I just try to stay happy 🤗.” I love this

Crocheting seems interesting.. I wish you luck with it and I will definitely love to see your beautiful creations.

That's what many seem not to understand getting to a certain stage and they believe you must act serious everyday of your life which is not so there will be time to do like kid but that doesn't change the adult in you. Thanks for sharing jare

As important as it is to take life seriously, it is equally important to not take life too seriously that one forgets to live. We are all chasing greatness, but still need to always to remember to nurture ourselves from within. Else, what then are we doing all we doo for ourselves if we won't be the ones to enjoy them.

Good to have you around again, @teminike. I am looking forward to seeing you here more.

I know right. We do a lot of things for ourselves so should also nurture ourselves to enjoy the things we do.

Thank you olujay I also look forward to it.

Lol.. People always see me as someone who wants to take life seriously and truth is when I want to make conversations with people, they are mostly about serious stuffs. @olujay can testify to that. Not that I am not a playful person, I am though but I know that if my mindset doesn't wanna grow in time, life would come by hitting me hard.

Yeah, I miss playing police and thief, I miss being a kid but at the same time, I don't miss being restricted and having to follow every single order my parents make. I love the freedom I have now but yes, it come as a price of being responsible for every decision I make.

Lol from this comment you actually seem like a serious person.

It's really cool that you love having serious conversations with people I think that shows you adjusted to the adult life quickly and that's commendable.

Yeah....as much as we miss being a kid we need to face reality and know that a significant part of our lives is in our hands and be intentional about a lot of things.

But then I would love to know what you do when you're not so serious seeing as you can't play police and thief again ☺️

Growing up and becoming adults comes with things that are not always fun, but as you say, we must not stop nurturing the child in us and know how to have fun no matter what our age.
You should take a few minutes to complete your profile on Hive to give your account more visibility. And don't forget to have fun ;)

You're right @teminike, we are an adult but there were really times we love to enjoy life, be a child once again and forget about the reality of being an adult for a while. If I am in this situation, I would love to be in the children's playground, swinging with kids, go the slide and slide with my son so it wasn't that obvious, lol. Doing it will make me relax for a while.

I would love to know what you do when you don't feel like acting like an adult or how you escape reality.

Most of the times when I feel overwhelmed, I try to go back in time to read past events. Or just sleep or watch a movie like everyone else.

I can't really recall much of my childhood days, but from the little I can recall, it was mostly bland and monotonous. So, in a way, I can say I've always been "serious".
And as someone who has had to be serious since a long time ago, I agree with you that it does get tiring.

And I don't think Adulthood is a scam. I just believe we all had the wrong notions about what being an adult really is.

But all in all, you're right. We all really need to loosen up and unwind sometimes.

Sleeping can be really helpful to unwind.
Hmm "we all had the wrong notion of what adulthood is all about" 🤔

I felt every bit of this. We’ve become adults and the problems seem to be unending. It’s always one headache after another. I’ve become used to the stress that when I sit down without doing anything, I feel like it a crime. I don’t know if we will ever recover from this

I know right. Even moment of rest seem like a crime or joblessness

For me, being serious all the time limits you to the things that makes you happy. Sometimes, we have to be like a little one who still find some haooiness even with the small things. Being serious is not bad, but not letting yourself be happy with the small things make it worse. :)
