A great start to the New Year

Hello to all of you Silver Bloggers and indeed to everyone else reading this, whether onHive or not!

2023 is well and truly upon us, and with it has come some wonderful warm winter weather with blue skies in Scotland.

I really have no idea where this not so good weather we were forecast to get from the bomb cyclone has got to! Now they are forecasting a fallout from the Beast from the East. I guess if they keep forecasting bad weather, they will get it right one day!

Back to the here and now, and for the second day in a row in this new year we had gorgeous blue skies, with hardly a cloud in the sky!

One of our local churches or kirks basking in the blue skies, as Mrs T pointed out today we do live in Kirkcaldy, but what does caldy mean? I did say it had nothing to do churches!

Digressing again, ah well why break the habit of a lifetime!

Talking about lifetime, I see that Brady guy is 45 and made another playoff!

Are you superstitious?

I am allegedly not superstitious, but and of course there is always a but, I do listen to these old wives and some of their old wives tales! You know what I mean.

Mrs T and some of you Americans have one good luck thing and that is to eat spicy beans as the first food of the year...

So just before midnight I did my magic and popped all the ingredients into the slow cooker so that we had beans for when we woke on the 1st.

Apparently the theory is that the swelling of the beans brings growth and prosperity. At least that is what they do in her part of Colorado.

That was the first bowl of beans eaten on the first!

Well I think it worked as today was the big day of football in Scotland. My team Rangers have been having big upheavals and we were playing that green team.

I was not expecting anything, however it was a pretty good game and one we should have won, they equalised five minutes from the end.

So good weather, a decent result, I think 2023 will be a good year!

Yesterday we went to the park, but it was mobbed with people, but we did manage to spend some time with birds and I did have a chat with one of the pies.

He has got pretty big and I will post some pictures another day as they are on the memory card of my phone and I am sitting quite comfy on the couch writing this!

I can honestly say I have never heard of the good luck nature of beans. Honestly, beans usually don't bring me anything good at all.

Now that church is epic! You folks have the best churches over there. We have churches here, sure, but none like that.

hehe I never knew about the beans, but you have to do what you are told to do every so often hehe!
The churches, yeah we take them for granted, and so many are repurposed into some other things!

superstitious, we don't have that practice about beans but my sister and oldies are into not spending any amount of money 💰 💰 on the first day of the year.

I don't believe in such superstitious, but I listen whenever my grandmother talks about it.

Not really or supposedly ;) but here we have a saying: No creo en brujas pero de que vuelan, vuelan! 😆

Glad the year has started well for the Rangers. No surrender!

Well No Surrender, they needed to win, but more importantly they did not lose, so the only way is up!
Yes actually both of the two pies at the park, they were keeping their distance, so let's see if I can post that for Wednesday walk tomorrow Super Eli!

Looks like it was a beautiful day. I have never heard that saying before about spicy food/beans. I think I had some eggs for breakfast and while they were peppery, they were not spicy!

It was a gorgeous couple of days, now rain rain and did I say rain!
Ah eggs are great for breakfast, had some smoked salmon and scrambled eggs for breakfast this morning😁

Sounds delicious. I haven't had smoked salmon in forever. We don't really eat fish in our house so I only get to indulged when I am out. Usually I ended up going with the fried variety! :)

Yeah it is a new year thing I always do, and it is not cooked. Wifey is not a fan of the smell, so yeah generally only time we have it is when we are out too!

Back to the beans... We started making our own refried beans in our instant pot a couple of years ago. They are so good!

The spicy beans look delicious, I love spicy. But that sky is as if you were in Cuba, We had very nice weather at the end of the year. I hope it continues like this. I wish you a beautiful 2023. Greetings from Havana.
