A willy good walk ~ Balwearie Castle 🏰 the homecoming 🏴󠁧󠁒󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Hello Hello Hivians

I wonder if you are like me when you come back on a walk. Do you take longer on the way because you know where you are going so stop to take more pictures?

Well this was the case as Mrs T and I came back from our walk to Balwearie Castle in the Kingdom of Fife Scotland

a willy good walk.png

We are both suckers for horses and gorgeous views so we dillydallyed around before we actually set off for home, and to be fair that was only because of a humungous rain cloud that was watering the ground not far from us!

7842 Wed Walk 9 Aug 1.jpg

Is that not just a gorgeous view. The structure on the right is the stable. There are actually two horses but they are grazing on two different paddocks.

I asked this male to pose ....

7869 Wed Walk 9 Aug 2.jpg

What do you think @coquicoin did this big one listen? I think he misunderstood which four-lettered pee word I was talking about!

And that @deraaa is how you get the animal shots, talk to them... and then they will show you what nature is all about!!!

7864 Wed Walk 9 Aug 3.jpg

Mrs T in photo mode, while I took one last snap of my friendly horse.

7867 Wed Walk 9 Aug 4.jpg

And yes he had finished doing his business...

image.png

Whenever I am out walking I always think of @dswigle and #alwaysaflower and what is more Scottish on a Scottish walk than a thistle!

7832 Wed Walk 9 Aug 5.jpg

I have to wipe away some tears before I write what Mrs T has just said .... and I quote

"What is your obsession with willies in this post, the horse and now that!"

Oh fluff, have you noticed it yet!

There was me thinking what a cool shot with the bee, while she points out the two-and-one configuration of a prickly willy set!

Right enough of that, back to some pretty flowers!

7878 Wed Walk 9 Aug 6.jpg

Google Lens seems to have a consensus that this is Rosebay Willowherb well whatever it is, the gorgeous is very bonnie!

Weeds what about them, pretty or not?

7880 Wed Walk 9 Aug 7.jpg

Do you know why I included this in my post ... Can you something red close to that plant stem at the bottom?

Let me get in a wee bit closer...

7880 Wed Walk 9 Aug 8.jpg

It's a ladybird or do you say ladybug?

image.png

Anyway it's that time of year for beastie weasties!

7884 Wed Walk 9 Aug 9.jpg

More thistles and this time being visited by a marmalade hoverfly. They are such cool wee insects.

7845 Wed Walk 9 Aug 10.jpg

These were the houses on the other side of the road, they are called Balwearie cottages and infact that is the address of Balwearie Castle!

image.png

7846 Wed Walk 9 Aug 11.jpg

It was time to head back, we were heading towards the blue sky, would we outrun the clouds and rain?

Can you see the rain, it is over there ....

7857 Wed Walk 9 Aug 12.jpg

We passed the cottages and stood admiring the views.

7893 Wed Walk 9 Aug 13.jpg

I did see a couple of squirrels in this derelict gated garden space ...

7903 Wed Walk 9 Aug 14.jpg

I was tempted to hop over and go for a squirrel rummage but thought better of it.

I was however drawn to this view.

Like a picture frame I think....

7908 Wed Walk 9 Aug 15.jpg

image.png

It was warm and a glorious day, however I heard rain and turned around 180 degrees to see ...

7911 Wed Walk 9 Aug 16.jpg

It was still over there so I told Mrs T to get her butt in gear.

Being a typical woman she was "come here quick and take a picture!".

Off I trotted ...

Ants, flying ants she says, we used to have them in Colorado look ... and she points πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡

7906 Wed Walk 9 Aug 17.jpg

I must admit the flying ants were pretty cool, and this is one thing Mrs T does now, is scout for nature pictures for me for Hive!

7894 Wed Walk 9 Aug 18.jpg

But the trek home awaits and off we set...

7817 Wed Walk 9 Aug 19.jpg

The tarmac road actually ends up not far from the Buffalo farm, which weather permitting we shall visit soon, they do have a good farm shop!

image.png

7816 Wed Walk 9 Aug 20.jpg

That was Balwearie farm in the distance, and I have no idea who chopped the trees up.

7820 Wed Walk 9 Aug 21.jpg

Talking of trees, the score is tree 1 wall 0.

But so do you see the fluffing hole in the tree?

7821 Wed Walk 9 Aug 22.jpg

A fluffing big woodpecker do you think?

image.png

7913 Wed Walk 9 Aug 23.jpg

Just in case that woodpecker's or alien's hole got you disorientated then someone very kindly has left a marker post!

7917 Wed Walk 9 Aug 24.jpg

Mrs T liked this stretch as it was nice and shaded. There was a big drop on the right, which some thoughtful farmer had put up a stone wall on top.

7925 Wed Walk 9 Aug 25.jpg

We conclude today's walk with a gorgeous flowery view!

image.png

This concludes Balwearie Castle 🏰 the homecoming 🏴󠁧󠁒󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 ~ it was a willy good walk and is my post for this week's #wednesdaywalk challenge hosted by @tattoodjay in collaboration with #makemesmile hosted by @elizacheng.

Thanks for visiting and enjoy the rest of your day!

Oh, I love the place! I would also like to wander! You got a chance to photograph those little animals! Me? Been ages since the last time I saw one!

Horses! Speaking of the place I visited last weekend have healthy ones. At least compared in Tagaytay

Ah yes, it was a gorgeous place to wander, especially as it was the first time up there!
The horses were cute even if I did interrupt the male having a pee

Oh, I do love going out on a walk with you T. Got a way of incorporating that homey feeling so it looks like we're actually on a walk. The views are nice and I do hope you guys made it home in time to beat that rain storm.

Horses with clothes, I know they need to stay warm but always makes me laugh. Now I don't think I've seen the castle yet unless it's the ruins behind the horse. What a beautiful place! Looks like a great, relaxing walk!

Ah a clothes horse lol. The castle, well it is big ruins and can see in the pic behind Mrs T, I presume you meant her and not a horse...

Now I don't think I've seen the castle yet unless it's the ruins behind the horse.

🀣🀣🀣

But yeah it is one heck of a relaxing place and walk!

Wow, this looks like a really beautiful area. What a magical place to walk in. We have a wood pecker that is going at the tree in the neighbors yard. It drives my wife crazy. She can't even leave the window open because it is so loud and annoying!

Hehe! Super Ed you are a lot of fun. I don't want to know the details of your chat with that horse as he went about his business 🀣
Eddie W. is an expert at talking to animals @deraaa but I think sometimes he confuses them with his jokes, lol. I wonder what Mrs. T thinks about this. πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‚
Loved this walk, Super Ed. Perfect to start the day with a smile.
Happy Thursday!

Oh I know. He confuses me a lot of times. Ed can be a handful especially when he’s in a summer moodπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Aww. These are lovely shots Mr T. I love to stay longer during a walk to take beautiful shots, that is, if I ever find any so fascinating.
Oh wow... the first horse complied to your instruction for a pose and it did marvelously. Hehehe. Do they wear clothes on or what is that brown stuff on them?

Yea, I can see that ladybug even before you zoomed it out πŸ˜πŸ‘Œ so cute.

Those weeds are colorful and they all are perfect shots from you. Mrs T could have shown her face πŸ˜‘πŸ˜ΊπŸ™‚

You really had a nice walk. I can't take my eyes of that horse I wish I was the one standing right next to it hehe. Nature is beautiful, I have stretched my eyes so hard to see that bee but I couldn't maybe I need a lens but the flower is nice, I love the color.
