Enjoy life it can be shorter than you think

Hello Hello Hivians

Enjoy life

Every so often we get a sharp reminder that life can be short.

Yesterday afternoon when working in my home office I heard lots of sirens.

As that room is at the front of the house on a main road I just presumed it was emergency vehicles on their way to some sort of accident.

I later found out that this was true.

We have the curtains drawn closed normally in that room and I did peak my head out to see a fire engine across the road.

Little did I know when I was at an exhibition at the weekend that I would be seeing a fire engine in Kirkcaldy.

When I went to meet Mrs T at the bus stop yesterday afternoon there were still police cars and fire engines all over the place.

There was an ambulance parked on the street. It did not have lights flashing and I thought nothing of it.

Fast forward to today and I was coming back up the hill (murder hill as I call it as it is pure murder when you are hauling groceries up on your back!).

The football ground that I live opposite is Raith Rovers and they are vying for top spot in the Scottish Championship.

image.png

The scene was from this afternoon and very different to 24 hours previously when the road was closed.

image.png

When I got opposite the ground, I could see a policeman and woman still there....

image.png

image.png

I could see the house taped off and where the fire was.

image.png

I asked the policewoman if everyone was okay. She replied that they have not released details yet.

To me that sounded quite ominous.

I did cross the road to take the picture. I felt it quite morbid taking pics when they could see, so this was opposite the street in the football ground car park.

Now this picture shows how close it was to us.

Our house is on the left behind the red car.

image.png

It was just a couple of doors down.

Big shout out to the Raith Rovers groundsman who raised the alarm after he saw flames shooting out of the roof.

Also well done to the youth squad of Raith Rovers, as it was them who were training at the time.

Apparently they went door to door to help evacuate neighbours on either side of the affected property.

They even went back to get babymilk for one wee child.

I got home after taking these pictures and made a coffee...

Up popped on my home the latest news which you can read in Person dies in house fire in Kirkcaldy

I have no idea what happened as this happened in the early afternoon, but it makes you think.

One minute life is all hunkydory then the next it has gone.

This is a new month, life is short, so enjoy it and don't waste it.

Thanks for visiting and enjoy the rest of your day!

You're right, you don't know where the end is, so you have to live in the moment. There are still caring people who helped evacuate the surrounding houses. Domestic accidents are very dangerous and we must always be alert and, above all, take care of ourselves. Thank you friend @tengolotodo. Nice weekend enjoy it. 🤗

I learnt many years ago when I worked in Africa that life is precious and can vanish in the blink of an eye, so yes living in the moment or as I say live in the now.
Thank you my friend @mamani and I wish you a happy weekend and a wonderful March😁

That is very close to your house Ed, I am so happy that you and the place are ok, feel sorry for the homeowner whose house got into fire.
life is really so precious, and we should be grateful for it.

Gosh, this is scary if you think more about it. Life is really short so ee have to enjoy every moment of it. Let's not stress ourselves but rather enjoy even if it's hard, hsha. Not easy but well, we gotta do what we need to do. Anyways i just hope no one 'eherm" on that fire.

So sad. We had a house fire a few doors down a couple of years ago. The house was completely gutted. I went by a few days later and someone had left a little bunch of flowers by the tree beside the gate.

Kirkcaldy? I had a holiday there one time. A friend and I went to see a community enterprise that had been set up there, thinking about we might do something similar in Leicester. While we were walking about one day, we came across a ruin (I mean maybe two or three stone courses left in the walls) of a tiny cottage. My friend, who I must admit was a dab hand at D-I-Y, was seriously contemplating buying it.

That's sad to read, Tito Ed. Just good the fire didn't spread. It's so close to your house! Another reminder to live in the moment.

How unfortunate that these things happen in homes, lately I have heard of many accidents of this nature. Near home, a house burned due to a fan that caught fire, it is worrying. Houses become places where any accident can occur and caution with fire is necessary. It is also good to reflect on how life can change from one moment to the next. Kind regards.

It must be horrifying to die in a house fire. I always hope they are asleep and the smoke inhalation got them first.

I hope that is what happened and as it happened around 2 in the afternoon, I am thinking that is what happened, although they haven't released any official info.
