Little and Large 2 years of Valentine's Orchids

Hello Hello Hivians and poets

Two orchids for two years

There is a saying "Kill two birds with one stone". I am sure that you are familiar with it!

Well today in the context of work smarter not harder, I am killing two birds with one stone to speak.

image.png

So one bird you can tell is this post that you are looking at and hopefully reading.

image.png

The second bird was actually the inspiration for this post, so maybe this is the second bird after all ...

Oh fluff me...

It is like the chicken and the egg!

Which came first?

My answer, who cares they are both delicious!

I mean sometimee people just get to hung up on fluffing semantics.

What with Rangers winning the football yesterday and going top of the league (first time since August 2022 just in case you didn't know 🤣) I got behind and never got to participate in the weekend threading initiatives.

We the Silver Bloggers courtesy of @coquicoin paricipate and you still have time to get a thread in to Weekend Threading Mini Contest: Silver Bloggers # 17

It is all about comfort food, so what are you waiting for? You could wind HBD and LEO!

image.png

Well the post was actually

Hive Naija Weekend Threading | Week 26

from the @Hive-Naija community... and it was about your favourite Valentine's gifts.

image.png

I have not entered it yet, but of course I will as soon as I publish this post.

After all, it prompted this post, you see @deraaa there are prompts all over the place, no need to force ourselves...

image.png

We don't celebrate Valentine's Day as such but we know what we like, and have our wee traditions. Mrs T loves to get me a mug and I love to get her a potplant.

Which is funny as we both will use the mug and we both admire and care for the plant.

image.png

The only thing is that we won't buy on the day or go out on the day, damn why do they jack up prices and make it so commercialised!

image.png

This year I got the big orchid on the left, and last year year I got the smaller one.

Both were being discounted and both had to be given a home.

image.png

Interestingly enough they were the first orchids that we have ever had.

As much as we love houseplants and have had hundreds over the years (indeed many of our friends benefit whenever we move country or continent etc!) we never had orchids before as thought they were very complicated to take of.

However, the one we had last year loved being at that window and is blooming again!

Yeah we doubled down and got another one!

Moral of the story

You can teach old dogs Silver Bloggers new tricks!

Thanks for visiting and enjoy the rest of your day!

They jack those prices up because of basic greed! Nice orchid! Maybe I should try growing them as well, but I hear they can be a bit finicky..

Those are beautiful orchids Ed, They look healthy.
I should take care of my orchid at home. It has not bloomed yet for quite some time.

Very nice. Those look quite lovely. I really need to learn to grow something without killing it one day.

That's the problem see. I have never been able to find that sweet spot. I either give it way too much or way too little!

I will tell you that I don't think there is a woman who doesn't like to be given an orchid, I'm sure you have surprised her. They are both beautiful and I see that you take very loving care of them. They bring life to your home. You chose a good gift for Valentine's Day. Have a nice week.🤗

Congratulations to the rangers fc.

The orchids are lovely, with a blush of pink.

I also I'm at a loss why love is being commercialized in February, everything just fluffing goes up.

Your orchids look so beautiful and surprisingly happy to be indoors as they look so healthy! They usually enjoy humid conditions.
My poor orchids are looking so sad, they all need to be repotted, but I need to get a couple of new baskets and wood chips, I'm ashamed to admit that they've been neglected!
You've just inspired me to get going with them!
Orchids are such rewarding plants, enjoy!
Have a lovely weekend Ed.
