Reconnecting to an over two hundred year old mouse

(Edited)

Hello Hello everybody, today I was full of good intentions.

I have been on a good run with posting in Hive recently which ultimately got me to dolphin status and today I wanted to write an article, my entry to the monthly prompt #1 for this community to be precise!

Some of you might remember my window that was broken which I posted about Saturday Shootout led to Sunday deStress

Our glazier was coming today to have a look and see whether it would be a question of fixing the pane or replacing the whole window frame (as it is double glazing).

In theory it would be a quick look, and he might or might not need access to the inside of the house.

Either way I was up at 5am like normal as I always make Mrs T's lunch and breakfast that she then takes to work.

That left me a few hours to crack on with some consulting work I am doing, which funnily enough is all about correcting AI text of human conversations. They don't half get themselves into a pickle these AI bots! Don't worry they are not exterminating the human race just yet!

As I get to bed between 2 and 3 normally and get up at 5, I have a nap in the late morning. My AS won't let me sleep more than about 3 hours at a time.

Today though, no nap, just in case the glazier turned up and needed access.

Aha another coffee and I would make a start on that prompt.

A slice of toasted cheese ... don't mind if I do. I tell you what, that Tengo guy is quite the considerate host, he feeds you!

Center and grounding, I have no fluffing clue what that prompt is about.

I remember one of my school reports was "Edward settled in well and is well grounded." I wonder if that is what is meant.

Off I went to Interwebby and found out all about becoming centered and grounded. Time was marching on though and finally, the glazier turned up.

I had not written the post and I had not made dinner!

Home made burgers were on the menu, so I got out the ingredients and knocked up the mixture, courgettes and red onions make for some awesome beefburgers.

Now though it was time to go for the walk and meet Mrs T.

Dinner done and 7.30pm I was fluffing tired and nodded off on the couch.

No chance of writing that prompt post.

So all this reminds me of the greatest poet the world has ever seen....

A bold claim, but then again I am Scottish and we are talking about the Ploughman Poet, the farmer that was Rabbie Burns.

I am sure you have heard of the phrase ... The Best laid plans. You know the deal, no matter how well you plan something, it can still get screwed up.

Well today it got me thinking as I typed this about Rabbie Burns and one of his most famous poems which we all learnt to recite at school.

The poem ... “To a Mouse”

The line in question is:

The best laid schemes o' mice an' men / Gang aft a-gley

which in English basically means

The best laid plans of mice and men often go awry.

I recommend reading the poem though, it happened because when he was ploughing he upturned a mouse's nest.

A good version with English translation is here

Even though this was written inthe late 1700s it applies today especially since we seem determined to destroy nature!

However as I often say, there is usually a positive if you look for it!

As much of a wash out today was for writing my answer to the prompt, I reconnected with Scotland's national poet.

Fancy some wee token prizes for me? Drop two poems or songs that he personally wrote!

I hope this is acceptable for this awesome community and is my post for the dreemport x ThoughtfulDailyPost August challenge week 2!

Wow! That was one cup-of-coffee train of thoughts you got there. Haha
Amazing how the human brain works.
And uh, yeah, the mice and man's plan sounds similar to mine. I was supposed to write up and be done before going to sleep but neighbors are pretty much celebratory that they're disturbing my personal need for peace so, I rushed in the morning.

Great read.☺️

That's right T.
Even the most carefully laid out plans could go awry. I should know. I've witnessed it a lot of times these past days.
Anyways, I'm super glad you got around to writing the post. !luv🌺

My take home

Sometimes we plan something but fate has another plan for us. We may not like it but if we can look at it from other sides, something good may come out of it.

Thanks for sharing
