The Royal Burgh of Burntisland in Scotland

I could never stay long enough on the shore; the tang of the untainted, fresh, and free sea air was like a cool, quieting thought. Helen Keller

image.png

Hello Hello Hivers, have you got your walking shoes on, because we are off on a wee trip to the next town from me.

Strictly speaking it is two seaside towns away. We are in Kirkcaldy and going to go through Kinghorn and arrive in Burntisland.

These are all seaside towns in the Kingdom of Fife in Scotland.

Right then, down murder hill we shall stroll.

Why Murder hill you ask...

Try walking up that hill with bags of grocery shopping, it is murderrr I tell you!

image.png

We are now standing at the bus 🚍 stop in Linktown in Kirkcaldy in Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 The floodlights you can see in the previous picture are from the football ⚽️ stadium of Raith Rovers Football Club.

image.png

Aha here we go, we are taking the number 7 today. Don't be a daft numpty! We always take the number 7, that is the only bus that goes this way🤣

Bonus points for someone who tells me what numpty means in the comments!

image.png

All aboard we go.

untitled.gif

Weird fact, during Covid the bus company stopped you from buying return tickets, only single journey tickets or a day ticket. I never did work out what the fluff that was about!

image.png

The journey is only along the coast, so expect to see the sea.

If you deviate from seeing the sea, you have gotten on the wrong bus 🤣

These farm buildings for me have a most wonderful view.

Do you like that view?

image.png

This is my favourite painting view.

I think this would be the most gorgeous simple view for a painting.

image.png

Now we zip along past their farm and fields of crops, I feel that I am playing dcrops!

image.png

Okay now we are getting closer to our destination, I can smell the sea air.

image.png

I call this the welcoming island and almost time to get off the bus.

image.png

I get withdrawal symptoms if I am too far from the sea.

image.png

The railway does follow the coast, but it is quicker for me to take the bus to where I am going. maybe next time I will show you a Scottish train journey!

image.png

Do you think that 40 speed sign is for the trains or the cars and buses?

image.png

Time to get off the bus.

image.png

Now we are in the Royal Burgh Of Burntisland

Do you see the bus in the window 🪟 and me too 🤣

Looking down the High Street

image.png

One of the iconic sysmbols of the UK is the red telephone box we call them.

image.png

This one is beside the library.

image.png

One thing about Burntisland is the amount of floral displays in the town.

image.png

Here a flower, there a flower, everywhere a flower.

image.png

image.png

I have to visit the chemist or pharmacy you might call them, because my doctor is still in that town where I used to live.

image.png

So before I collect my meds I shall leave you with a bonnie flower or two.

image.png

And as usual, whenever I see flowers I think of @dswigle and #alwaysaflower

image.png

I love to walk wherever possible and this wee stroll is also a post for #WednesdayWalk by @tattoodjay

your own profile map

do you know when that will be working again?

Still no ETA yet but the devs are making a lot more progress this week compared to last week. Last week 600k duplicate pins appeared on the map which is like 10x more, it took ages to reverse that, completed!!

Okay thank you for the progress update @livinguktaiwan
It is a bit unnerving creating new pins when you profile is not there so to speak.

oh yeah your connections there. It has lost the two banks in town the last couple of years and now the post office, but the high street is thriving with local shops though which is a good thing.

Hola hola, Super Ed!! Numpty ah? you silly what? jaja

It's true, the landscapes of the countryside and the farms look like paintings, and I love the fact that there are so many flowers in that village.
Why did you move from there?

hehe numpty, I do like this word.
They do like their flowers.
Ah the landlady suddenly told me in Covid that she need the apartment for her daughter to live in. A total lie but it turned out for the best, as it is far better here Super Eli.

Numpty! Sounds like what my grandma used to call me when I was being stupid. Which was often.

Is still often, in fact. 😂

You've got some wonderful landscapes there. Being by the sea must be beautiful. And the red telephone box! I'm hoping it has been upgraded to be a hotspot now! 😄

hehe yes your grandma may well have used it. It is ideal for when someone is being stupid 🤣
I have lived close to the sea all over the world most of my life and I do feel not right if it is not close by!

The telephone box, most of them now no longer have phones, but can be mini libraries etc. I need to check and actually see what that one is!

Thank you for that fun adventure Tito Ed. It's fascinating that they have lots of flower displays in that area.

And oh, I think numpty is a subtle way of saying "nuthead, silly or crazy or stupid", lol!

The flowers are great and give a place a lift CJ:)

Quite the touristy place in the summer with cafes on the High Street, also a cracking award winning butcher. A bustling High Street it is good to see.
