Today was a fowl day but in a good way

Hello hivers near and far, I hope you all had an excellent weekend.

As Burns night is coming up fast, I had to go grocery shopping this morning. We still aren't allowed gatherings and I wanted to celebrate Rabbie Burns and have some haggis neeps and tatties on his birthday the 25th of January which Tuesday this year.

I got my haggis and turnip, and took a stroll past the egg aisle as is my want whenever I am in this particular grocery atore.

There is a certain silver blogger that just loves to post duck egg spam, especially now that she knows they are my favourites, I swear I can see the glee in her eyes when she posts those pictures. Not naming any names @fionasfavourites

Well, today was my lucky day, they had some Braddock Whites duck eggs. Result! Perhaps I might get revenge later on the week when I decide how to cook them.

While I was at the grocery store, I grabbed a chicken. I don't know about you guys, but it is still a tradition that I like to do every so often and that is to have a roast dinner on a Sunday.

Like a dope, I forget to get the Yorkshire puddings out of the freezer. The roast chicken was accompanied by mushrooms and courgettes with mashed potatoes and a gravy.

Now to find the whiskey, as I need to address the haggis with it!

Have a good one, and thanks for reading.

Aye! Ye did it! 🤣

Now you have me green with envy! Haggis! It's been a very, very long time since I had it. My folks "did" Burns Night every year for about 30. She would make it. I used to help. Can't remember when last... I keep kn threatening to make some...

Best you post some haggis spam on 26th if not the 25th. Have a dram on me!🥃🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Yip. My Dad was Glaswegian. He converted my Sassenach mother and they had Burn's night celebrations, as I said, every year for at least 30. They were legendary. While I was growing up and after I left home. We shall also raise a glass to the old bard tomorrow...

That is fantastic.
In the heat that you are having, that raised glass may well be what you need to cool you down.

I'm dying to try those duck eggs, but not the haggis ;)
Burns Night? I've read that it's to celebrate the Scots poet Robert Burns, but what does the celebration involve? Will you write about it?
